NHS BUDGET

My husband was presented with a statistic today that 70% of the NHS budget is spent on people during the last 2 years of their life.

Given this statistic, and it may largely apply to people like us as the ‘lucky’ 70%, surely it means that undoubtedly someone isn’t getting what they need.

I am a bit shockeed by this, and not quite sure how i feel yet.

Not sure about that figure as the cost of supporting pregnant women is huge too, lots of scans, checkups etc. I find it hard to believe that it’s as high as 70%.

But that said I’m not sure there’s anything wrong with it if it is correct. Prior to my diagnosis last year I was a picture of health and never saw my GP so really wasn’t much of a cost. It makes sense that you need health care when you’re ill and not the rest of the time.
