I know there is a thread re Oncotype DX testing but yesterday I read an article in the Daily Mail which gave you the possible costs of one session of chemo and the cost of the Oncotype DX test. Having read the article I was so incensed by the stupidity of the NHS.
One session of chemo could cost up to £3,000. If the average number of sessions is six then the total cost of chemo could be as much as £18,000. One Oncotype DX test which can determine if chemo is needed costs around £2,400. Not only could this give the money orientated NHS a potential saving of £15,600 but also, and more importantly, reduce the need for the devastating effects of chemo.
Why does this so called caring organisation not know how to do simple arithmetic?
