Need Good News about Nodes!

you might see from other posts that my results from mx were worse than originally thought. Cancer bigger and from SNB 1/3 tested +ve. Have op for ANC on Friday. Totally devastated with lymph involvement. I have ILC grade 2 3 tumors 31mm, 19mm and 14mm. I guess like us all we want someone to tell us that we will all be ok, but of course they can’t. I guess I jsut want to hear good stories about lymph node involvement x x

Flower,
I have a sister-in-law who had four affected nodes and a close friend who also had four. They are both alive and well with absolutely no recurrence or spread. My s-i-l has been disease free for 18 years and my friend for 10. Affected nodes mean that your body has been doing a good job of holding the cancer back. Both these women had grade 3 tumours greater than 40mm.
There are many more good stories out there. When your treatment starts you will know that you have a great chance of walking away from this disease-free.
All the very best,
Kathleen

Flower,

I was diagnosed 8 years ago, 6 out of 17 nodes affected, stage 2, had WLE,FEC and rads followed by Tamoxifen 5 years, now in year 3 of Letrozole.

I decided the best thing was to accept everything they offered. I was upset when chemo was mentioned when I got the results because up til then it hadn’t been mentioned but my husband who came to every appointment said that I chose to hear only what I wanted to hear.

Still well although not enjoying Letrozole very much at the moment.

Take care

Grade 3 cancer, 3 nodes affected, fit and well five years on

Hi,

Just dipping in here.

I was dx in June 2010 with 22/22 nodes involved. I can remember how scared I was. But I’m doing well, have had lots of support and have done so much to help myself.

I have been signed off from the hospital, with just an open appointment. There are many lovely ladies on here who have node involvement, they helped me so much.

Hope my story helps a little.

Dotty2 xx

These encouraging stories are lovely to read. My node involvement still plays on my mind sometimes and it’s great to hear ‘success’ stories.

I had 3/11nodes affected, 2 and a half years later all is well.
Big hugs
Stella

Grade 3, Stage 2, 2 nodes affected, extra nodal spread, vascular invasion - very well 8 years on
Sarah

thanks for these. It;s a nightmare waiting for results. Had ANC so get results in a week or so. What does extra nodal spread mean?

just wondering about this extra nodal spread- has anyone else come accross this? x

Hi Flower, what it means is that the cancer has escaped out of the lymph node into the immediate area around it, this would be detected, I pressume, by checking the tissue they take away along with the lymph nodes. Because it is still very localised, I expect they can get get it all out.

Try not to let your mind go to scary places - I know it’s really hard not to - and just take it all one step at a time. Hopefully you will never need to worry about this.

Take care.
