Re: New pain with 2 weeks to wait for results

Thank you both of you!
Not sure I like the 'for the rest of my life' bit, but it's definitely easier to cope with the bad stuff when I know the bad stuff - being in the dark is the worst thing!

Re: New pain with 2 weeks to wait for results

Hi, I had surgery two years ago WLE and node clearance.  I still get shooting pains, heavy arm, shoulder, stiff neck etc.  When I spoke to my oncologist she said I would get pain like this on and off for the rest of my life. So I just ensure that I do exercises, helps to an extent but does not take pain away completely,  The pain comes and goes.  Hope that helps to allay any fears you may have.

Hi Mac66, your damaged nerves are reconnecting and believe it or not the numbness is also very slowly getting better hence more pain.
My whole shoulder was frozen for almost 2 weeks but the exercises with pain killers (ibuprofen) and blue active gel (not on the scars) really helped. I'm almost 7 weeks post same op and still use the gel to calm down cording and odd nerve pains but off painkillers for arm for ages. I've stopped doing the exercises as I got almost normal movement now but still see physio for releasing the over compensating shoulder muscles.

I ha d ct and bone scans and my onc called me to say that they had found anomalies in the bone scan so they managed to get me a mri scan cancellation slot before I went to see him for scheduled pre-chemo app. If you don't hear from your doc maybe you can contact your bnc for info/assurance. (Ps. My anomalies ended up being clusters of blood veins, odd but nothing serious or uncommon).

I still over do everything - thinking, connecting dots where don't even exist etc. so I guess it's all part of new paranoid normal until we get to the other side of active treatment and then a whole new world of worries will arrive but I don't have the energy to think far, especially this time in the morning 😉

Take care xx

New pain with 2 weeks to wait for results

Just over 2 weeks after my WLE and lymph node removal, I am feeling more pain. The sunburn feeling on my arm is not great, and gets worse as the day goes on. But I'm also getting a heavy ache and random stabbing pains in in my boob where the lymph nodes were removed, and an ache in my shoulder blade. Is this all normal? Feels so strange that the area still feels so numb but is hurting at the same time. And yes, I am doing the exercises.

Bone scan next week and MRI the week after but I don't see my consultant again for 2 more weeks - another 14 days of not knowing if/where this thing has spread, and what it is currently doing, and how much more damage is being casued by the now 2 month delay between finding the lump and starting the treatment - so maybe I'm just becoming over-conscious of every little thing I feel??
