Re: Newbie~Ultrasound and waiting for results, cancer?

Hi there.

I hope you soon get your results. I was told at my mammogram last December that I had dense breasts but no explanation as to what effect this could have. I've found out since then via forums and good NHS websites that dense breasts make it harder to read mammograms and U/S due to the dense breast tissue showing up as white, and lumps also showing up as white. I wish I had known that then.

I was sent home with no real explanation of the lump and tethering I went to have examined last year. Now I have a new lump in the the same breast but a different location. I'm awaiting my appointment back to the breast care clinic. This time I'm a bit more prepared and if the lump can't be located on the mammogram or U/S I shall ask how they intend to reassure me it isn't malignant. I presume if they think it is serious or want to prove that it isn't, they will biopsy it or maybe send me for an MRI.

I'm really sorry that you've been through so much and suffered pain too. I can empathise with your terror. Good luck. x

The pain is very concerning among all the other thoughts that I can't wrap my mind around yet. I am so glad to find this forum and hope to gain some valuable advice and insight! Thank you very much for your warm welcome!Heart

Newbie~Ultrasound and waiting for results, cancer?

I am a newbie to this forum and am waiting for results from a breast ultrasound I had yesterday! The pain in my right breast became more prominent over the last 2 months but was waiting for my yearly mammogram which was done recently, it came back clear btw! Alittle background info, I was called back 2 yrs. ago and then had ultrasound which was deemed nothing suspicious found. The mammo reported very dense breasts. Fast forward 2 yrs. I have had persistent pain in ribs, scapula and collarbone for the last 1 1/2 yrs. Docs diagnosed Costochondritis! I recieved OMT and PT with no success! I told Doc's at the first appt. that I didn't know if it was coming from my breast OR chest? They must have felt confident with the diagnosis of Costo as the bone scan came back clear at the time(over 2 yrs. ago). I am now having extroadinary pain in right breast, ribs, scapula, shoulder, armpit! I saw Doc and asked for an Ultrasound. I had Ultrasound yesterday. During the Ultrasound Technician would stop the transducer over all the spots that were very painful. Mind you I didn't tell her specific locations as there is so much pain rright now. I told her in general, that is all. Everytime she stopped the transducer, she clicked away at the monitor. I am assuming she was doing some measuring of what she found. She did have a look of seriouness on her face although she did her best to hide this. She also turned the monito away from me when she noticed I was trying to look at it. She was very nice btw, I think she was just trying to prevent alarm. I am still waiting for results but realize it could take up to 3 days and it has only been 1 day. It's the wknd so hopefully hear something Monday? I am very concerned I may have not only BC buts mets to ribs, ect. She also stopped the transducer under armpit area and clicked away. I am not the type of person to automatically assume the worst but in light of this ongoing pain and lump I found recently I am pretty much terrified. I know some have pain with BC diagnosis and some don't. I would so appreciate any input, thoughts, commens, info on the matter at hand. Anyone who has had similiar situation as far as pain or experience with ultrasound. Also, if it is deemed suspicious will doc recommend biopsy or breast specialist? I can't thank you enough in advance for any reply. I am naturally terrified:( God bless<3
