Non-underwired bras - an endangered species?

Why do non-underwired bras always come in boring black or white?  And why are they so plain and functional?  I have had a lumpectomy and am lucky enough to be able to just about get away with wearing an ‘ordinary’ bra (apart from a little lean to the left which I compensate for with a bit of padding). Yes I could try a specialist shop but they are often expensive, so come on high-street retailers, let’s have some pretty, lacy, pastel-coloured (and dare I say perhaps even ‘sexy’) non-underwired bras for a change.  I saw the odd one or two in Boyes this week (lured red and black, or fluorescent pink and black - yikes) but well done to Sainsburys, I found one in there in a very nice pastel pink so of course I snapped it up. So Sainsburys, can we have some in nice fondant colours such as pale blue, or mint green, or buttercup yellow, or lilac perhaps?  I await in breathless anticipation!

M&S have a small range of post-op bras, could use a prothesis as has pocket for this. Am currently using these as had matching surgery and the material used is so soft on my scars. I orderd online as my local store is too small to carry the stock, but had them delivered to the store for immediate refund if the fit was not good. Not too pricey, and so nice being out of sports braa. VAT is also deducted. A small bonus. X

Have you tried the bra like crop tops, they ate soft and slightly padded which can be removed if required. Asda have a good selection just now, also seen them in Marks and Next have a lovely Lacey one. They’re so comfy

I’m happy today I’ve managed to wear one of my Lacey M&S non wired bras that I used to war before my WEL in Feb ?

I take a GG or H cup so am struggling to find anything without wires or boning. Found a couple of OKish ones in M&S but there is some overspill! The crop top/knit bras are also way small. Anyone found any retailers that sell large cup sizes?

I had a single mastectomy. My solution has been to remove the under wiring from my surgery side. I need the support for my breast, but it’s too uncomfortable on top of my scar. Hoping this helps x

I bought my bras from M&S recently diagnosed so was completely in the dark what I was looking for its all happened since 10th June and I have just had Surgery 15th June.  I bought a pack of 2 bras £16 one in pretty blue with ditsy pastel pink flowers slim straps (hate the thick straps) the other is a cream colour with coral spots on both are very soft padded but enough to hold your shape, cut low at armpit- doesnt come near my scar. Has pocket in as well should the worse happen and I have to have more surgery, room for padding. These were two for £16. and it had a label on saying VAT Exemption so the two bras cost me very little.   I would also wear these as normal bras under t shirts, felt very comfortable compared to me always insisting on underwired for uplift 38D.  I also saw a white bra same padding/pockets/slim straps but had a nice little piece of lace across the front maybe good if you have scarring across chestbone area this was £16 + VAT exemption.  At moment I am still sleeping in one of the bras and they are very comfortable. I wasnt sure if I had to buy bigger size because of swelling after surgery- but I bought normal back size but came down a cup size which felt right, and are fine.
