"Hi did.a support group ever happen?"
Not that I know of.
That doesn't stop people meeting up informally, although when I've tried to do that in the past, it's been spectacularly unsuccessful. Other counties/areas have groups that have met regularly for years and become firm friends; Shropshire and Glasgow, for example. Yorkshire as an area seems to be hopeless at this.
TBH, I'm beyond the need of a "support group" per se, I'm 3 years post-Dx now and wanting to get on with my life. The support group would have been wonderful before but as I said, most people either weren't enthusiastic or simply just didn't turn up.
Are you going to base it at YDH?
The old one that was there had the support of BCNs but it stopped before I coud attend.
I was actually invited to join the Haven's Younger Women's Group (I had to decline as I'm over 47 which was their cut-off) so I guess I dont look like an old biddy.
I remember when I was first diagnosed and I was given the BCC leaflets. My heart sank cos all the photies seemed to be of old women with grey hair. I don't have grey hair yet. It made me feel oh so alone. When I went for chemo, the others in the room on my 'day' were old men and women. Alone again.
So yes, I fully understand your reasons for wanting to set up a younger women's support group but it leaves people like me fearful that any older women's group wouldn't have anyone in it who likes skiing, cycling, mountain walking etc like I do.
Inbetweeners' group? lol
Reading back up, I'm not under 48 either but I'm lively and still drink coffee!
I'm in Bish. I suppose I could get hubs to drop me off in town or something. I'm still full of stitches and clips so I can't even manage the bus just yet.
Where are you?
Sounds good but I'm fairly immobile at the moment - recovering from a TRAM flap so I can't drive 😞
Hi, I'm in York.
I've been to 2 Yorkshire meet-ups in the past; only one other lady turned up at one in Leeds in 2011 and I was sat on my own for an hour in York in 2012 for the other. If there is interest for a North Yorks group then I'm in; I don't know anyone else round here with BC.
I moved near York nearly 3 years ago in the middle of chemo but the group based at YDH (York District Hospital) fell through before I attended it so I never got to meet anyone through there either!
Hi
Yes I would definitely be interested, please can you pass on the details. I am 37 years and diagnosed January 8th 2014.
Thankyou xxxx
Hi
I'm near Selby, would love to be part of any groups or meet ups. Have loads of support from friends but only really feel totally understood speaking to people with experience of this beggar !! I am waiting for nodes clearing then on to chemo.
Take care

Hello to you all, I am from the Redcar area. I had mastectomy and lymphnodes removed in June 2013. I had chemo and Radiotherapy too. I am now on Letrozole. So far I have been ok on them apart from the odd hot flush and sometimes feeling very weary. I am trying to get on with life again and hope i don't get a secondry.
I expect like the rest of you I never thought it would happen to me but it has and it has to be dealt with.
I wish you all well. I am always up for a chat to anyone.
Hi, I am based in North Yorkshire. I have been diagnosed with DCIS rather than actual invasive breast cancer but am due to have a masectomy & reconstruction very soon. They have advised that given how widespread my DCIS is they may find invasive after the operation so all a bit worried at the moment but trying to stay positive 🙂
Hi just wondered if there was anyone in North Yorkshire area?
