Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi All

I got my reply from UCF and you may pay for the tickets by debit or credit card over the telephone, by posting a cheque or by leaving in cash into the UCF.

Would you like me to sort out the tickets and then you can reimburse me next week or do you want to sort your own tickets out.

Let me know asap.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi Girls,

Just to let you no I got the results of my yearly mammogram yesterday the results were satisfactory yeahhhhhhhhh :))), just waiting now on the results of my heart MRI scan .

It looks like we are heading to the Culloden for our next meet-up so Carolyn are group organiser of events :)) are you checking out availbility of tickets and how we can pay for them, I'll keep an eye on the site for an up-date.

Julie xx

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Checked with the Culloden and you have to have a minimum 2 night stay to use vouchers. I've enough vouchers to pay more than half. If anyone wants to stay over and share the cost with me, pm me and we'll work something out.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi Girls

A fundraiser would be a good way to say goodbye to Herceptin Isy, looking forward to what you come up with and it could tie in nicely with one of our meet-ups but in the meantime this appeared on my Facebook page this morning, thought it might be an option for our next get together.

Calling all Fashionistas for a ‘Girls’ Night Out’ in aid of UCF!

Co. Down woman, Rosie Adamson, is launching a special ‘Girls’ Night Out’ event at the Culloden Hotel and Spa, Holywood, on Friday 9th March 2012 from 8.00pm ’til late, to help raise vital funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

Ladies can enjoy a pink drinks reception and fabulous fashion show and then dance the night away to live entertainment. The fashion show will showcase top styles from the clothing shops Liberty Blue, Dietraich and The Bridal Shop, Holywood. Ladies who attend will also enjoy exhibition stands showcasing local businesses and supporters. Tickets for this girlie night out are only £25.00.

Let me know what you all think.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi All

Good to hear you had a good time at your last meet up - but then we always do! There's an idea taking shape at the back of my brain at the minute. I'm thinking that once I get the Herceptin out of the way, I might organise some sort of fundraiser by way of celebration. Something involving food and drink and a bop probably. But I imagine it wouldn't be until April/May by the time I get it organised - I'll keep you posted.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi

Really enjoyed last Saturday and very many thanks again to Carol for using her staff discount - it is much appreciated especially since today was hubby's last day at work, so beans on toast for the foreseeable future in my house 😞

Don't worry Maggie it's not chemo brain this time! A venue hadn't been decided just the date. lol

It might have to be a bit more special this time for Isy to celebrate her farewell to Herceptin.

I had a look on a few sites to see if there was anything interesting happening that weekend but haven't come across anything yet, still looking though. If I come up with anything interesting I shall let you all know.

Catch you all later.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Don't know about anyone else, but Lily's would be easier for me to get to.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi All

That's a shame you can't make it Isy, we will all miss your company.

It looks like Saturday lunchtime is the favourite date. I've done a chart with everyone's choices and it looks like a toss up between Lily's Bar and Four Winds (there's a couple of indecisive people out there lol), so the deciding coin from our very first meet-up may have to come out again!

Either way looks like we will have 6 Bosom Buddies meeting on Saturday. Can I suggest 1 o'clock for Saturday?

Will keep an eye on the site for a brave soul to make the decision or toss the coin.

Carolyn xx

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

I can't make it, but have a great time everybody and see you all the next time

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi girls

Looks like Saturday lunchtime is suiting most people however i can still do Friday lunch time as well if needs be.

A few suggestions where toeat however its open for everyone to put in their spoke.

We havent been to any of these places before for eats so here goes:

Four Winds (maybe a bit out of he way for those without a car)but the food is excellent and I get dicount on the food!
Lily's Pub and eatery on the Lisburn Road
Or in Belfast city centre The Apartment, Cafe Vaudeville or McCrackens Bar.I know theres lots of eating places so if anyone else
has other preferences post them on the site and we can decide.

We should probably book a atable so lets have a show of hands with your preferred day and place: -)

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi again everyone and thank you for the welcome messages.
I will be doing my best to meet you all at the next get-together after the February one.
Spring seems to be heading our way and I am only too keen to come
out of hibernation this year.
Aren't we a lucky group to be having our treatment in Northern Ireland where everything we need is given so readily. I've discovered from other forums that the very expensive Neulasta treatment I got this week is not always available in other parts of the UK.
We sold up in France and came back here for family reasons just a few months before my diagnosis - someone up there was looking out for me!

Hope everyone is having a peaceful weekend.
Love to all,
Kathleen

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi All, and welcome to Kathleen.

I hope we are able to sort something out - Sat 4th at lunchtime (preferably in the Belfast area, or on a train route) would suit me best.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi Everyone

A very warm welcome Kathleen, glad you have found us. We are all at different stages of our cancer journeys and have found it invaluable to speak to others who know exactly where we are coming from and I hope you are also getting the same from this site and hopefully at sometime face-to-face with the rest of us - we love new recruits to our little group. I hope you are tolerating the FEC well and not suffering too many side effects.

I can't do evenings at all next weekend and between Friday and Saturday, Saturday would suit me better for lunch. Are we staying within the Belfast area? Carol you're the one with good ideas, where shall we dine? I'm just back from The Plough in Hillsborough and had a lovely meal and thought it would be nice for a Bosom Buddies get together sometime, it would be lovely in the summer.

As usual I will keep checking in. See you all soon.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

hi girls lunch time rather than evening on sat suits me best but i can wait to see what suits everyone else .... not a problem at all . Kathleen , welcome to our little thread ... such a lovely photo . looking forward to meeting you soon and in the mean time hopefully we can arrange a date and time soon for next wk carol x

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

You're very welcome Kathleen to the NI thread. Hope we get to meet you in person soon.

Can I suggest Saturday night, 4 Feb? Would that suit everybody? Would love to get down and meet everyone, but if Fri night or Sat lunch suits everyone else better, go with it and I'll see you all the next time.

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi everyone in NI group,
I started in Dec 2011 thread and have only just found you. I'm 61, living in Belfast, dx October 17th 2011 grade 3 partially ER+, mx Nov8th no lymph nodes involved(profile pic taken 11 days later at son's wedding in London) started FEC on Dec 7th, bald as a coot but loving my wig, not loving unreconstructed breast, more reclusive than ever since dx because utterly terrified of infection but on Neulasta now so might become more daring!

You're such a sociable lot you put me to shame. If you don't mInd an anti-socIal intruder, I'll be watching out for next Belfast gathering after Feb - son and new d-in-law visiting from London then - has to be Belfast or nearby because I don't drive and don' t like making more demands on my resident chauffeur because he's also cook, part-time cleaner and full-time worrier!

Hope you are all feeling as well as I am this lovely wintry morning.

Love to all you brave women,
Kathleen

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi girls

I'm still on for the 3rd or 4th Feb, I'll go with either date and will keep an eye on the site.

Julie, you have been in my thoughts lately and I was wondering how things had panned out with your heart issue.
I'll be thinking about you and will keep everything crossed for clear results from the scans.
I also have 2 appointments at the hospital this week, for a gynae examination and a back xray. I've been having quite a bit of abdominal discomfort lately and a 'tired' lower back,so this will hopefully put my mind at rest that ther's nothing going on except maybe the menopause as apparently my last bolods showed my hormonal levels to be quite high and this could be part of the reason for my discomfort.
Anyway I'll be in touch and hope everyone else is doing well and look forward to seeing you all soon

Love carol xx

Re: Northern Ireland Meet-ups

Hi Julie

Sorry to hear about your heart problems - this must be a very worrying time for you waiting for results. Big cyber hugs on their way xxxx
