Get nagging to your consultant /Dr for your results. You definitely shouldn't have to wait 3 weeks, I got my results back within 2 weeks.
You really do have to be on top of them otherwise they take the mick. I was diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer of the bone just before Christmas and because they also diagnosed myelopathy I pestered for a second opinion / Bone specialist, but had I not pushed for it I would have been sent for radiotherapy without a choice of seeing Spinal Surgeon and once I'd have had radiotherapy it would be too late to operate.
Pester power Michelle sounds awful and you really shouldn't have to but the NHS is really struggling with resources and the ball gets dropped from time to time.
Hello Michele, I just had the isotope bone scan as had tremendous back ache for last few months, but through my doc. I was waiting for doc to call & had asked hospital to send me results - which were supposed to be within 2 weeks. Waited about 10 days, decided I couldn't wait any longer, so put my big girl pants on & phoned docs. Results had been in for a few days!! The bone scan was 'satisfactory', although mentioned focal uptake as benign, but the x-ray showed widespread degeneration - osteoarthritis and for immediate doc appointment. Rather miffed, as if I hadn't bothered to phone, would still be waiting. Was offered doc appt at end of Feb. WHAT! Told receptionist I couldn't wait that long, so doc was going to phone in 2 days. Which she did. Normally don't think I would have been offered anything, except keep taking ibuprofen, but have been completely zonked out with back pain last week and couldn't move at all & had to lie out flat. Just managed to get to loo using a walking stick. So have got some naproxen (but also need another pill to stop stomach problems with that). Just been able to walk around last couple of days. I'm putting all this backache down to the anastrozole - not to the fact that I'm getting ever older (63). Yes, any sort of waiting now always seems to be the pits, really don't think 3 weeks is fair - can you pester consultant? (Shouldn't have to I know). Do hope all is well with you.xxx
Hi, I was wondering if the results from a bone scan take awhile to come through? I think when I had one three years ago it took ages, but I'm waiting on another one just over three weeks ago along with blood tests.
My consultant is checking for any bone metastases as I get awful bone pain in certain areas. I was taking Arimidex for 18 months and was taken off it and was not taking anything for 18 months. I was put on Exemestane last August after the 18 months of taking no hormone inhibitors and he was concerned that my bone pain, extreme fatigue and generally feeling unwell had been going on long before I was given the Exemestane.
It's the waiting that stresses you out the most after finally having the scan! Hopefully it won't be bad news and will be something I can deal with easily, the consultant was wondering if it's nothing to do with secondarily, then it might be a rheumatoid issue. Whatever it is, it's dragging me right down.
Cheers, Michele 💖
