Nurse practitioner?

Have just been for my year on from diagnosis, mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy. Was surprised not to see a doctor at all but a nurse practitioner. She was very pleasant but is this usual elsewhere? Next appointment 6 months’ time.

I saw a nurse practitoner this year…I was dx in jan 04…up until then had always seen either, onc., surgeon/consultant or BCN specialist…[who is also my BCN]
I’m sure when you see a nurse practitioner there is also usually a consultant available if neccesary.
I’m in Gloucestershire.

I saw the nurse practitioner for my first follow-up/ mammogram.
I was pleased to see him as he has supported me all the way through and was in fact, the first person I saw when this journey first began. For me, it was a comfortable experience. I have seen my consultant in passing and he asked how I was, so I know that if I wanted to see him then I can.
