Well done Ele. Do they give you advice on what moisturiser you should be using? 08.18 is a strange time - I hope you arrived on the dot
I've just been called up for my latest cervical screening. Not sure I can face adding that into the mix just yet but am seeing my GP on Monday so might ask if she thinks it's worth me waiting until all the BC treatment is over first before embarking on that one.
Thanks Suzy. So pleased to hear your chemo has finished. Hope that chest infection you have had is shifting now. Onwards for us all ... step by step. xx
Hi everyone. Just back from T2 so only one more to go. Hoorah.
Ele, good to hear from you but not that you have taken so long to feel right after your second dose. Not fair.
Jojo, in an attempt to stop thrush on last T, I tried a few drops of tea tree oil in a glass of water as a mouth rinse after cleaning teeth twice a day and I've been okay so far. Might be worth a try but don't swallow though as it can be toxic if ingested.
Belated happy new year to all.
I've got my 6th paclitaxel on Thursday all being well if the neutrophils haven't dropped 😉 Have you got a treatment this week on Thursday or are yours 3 weekly? I'm nearly there now, with only 3 more after this week 🙂 I think you mention Wednesday too. Does that mean we aren't chemo buddies? I know that Val and I share the same day and the same type of treatment.
I have been so fortunate and not had a knock back so far. Feel very blessed to have had quite a good run through. The thrush sounds horrid 😞 I have a very dry mouth and the corners of my mouth are often cracked inspite of using lip salve. Assume it's due to the multiple drugs we're taking and perhaps even an interaction between them too. Lost the foul taste too when I swapped from EC to paclitaxel. Am very tired and achey on this and have pains in the gut and the typical constipation. Can't complain too much though as think I've managed ok really.
Hoping to to hear about radiotherapy soon so can plan for that as I have quite a long trip to hospital and am working on the best way to sort out that month and a bit of treatment.
Will think of you if you're having your treatment on Wednesday or Thursday and hope you're near the end of chemo too 😉 Think a good few of us are getting there 🙂 Rads next!
Take care x
Hi Ele, wandered where everyone had gone! Im ok had my 2nd T last wed. This one seems to have hit me harder then the first, but its manageable. Keep thinking just one more ..........................................Glad to see the back of 2015. Wow you felt sick for along time! Glad you are feeling brighter now. Let us know how you get on with radiotherapy.
Rosie we are now chemo twins - had our 2nd T on the same day - how are you doing? The thrush in my mouth is the worst. I cant eat, everything tastes like slime - mind you losing a couple of pounds will be a good thing xx
Sorry not posted much on here recently but happy New Year one and all and may it bring with it a healthier one for all 🙂
Getting there - had 5th taxol yesterday, 4 more to go 🙂 Hoping to find out a bit more about the radiotherapy soon! Still not got an appt just know it will be 4.5 weeks of treatment. In many ways can't believe how quick the time is passing!
Hi Glenda, if Rosie hasn't added you to the FB group yet send me (Karen Roberts Burwin) a friend request and I can add you. Hope you're doing ok xx
I get an extension on my next chemo as it would have fallen on New Year's day so I've been shunted to Tuesday 5th. My veins will probably be grateful for the extra days as my chemo arm is quite sore again.
But apart from that I'm feeling pretty good.
Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and feels as well as possible. Thank you lovely people for all your support and friendship this year.
Hi ladies, been so busy at work this week and getting final bits of Christmas shopping done. Well today I went to work till lunch, got home made a trifle, lemon cheesecake, my home made stuffing, all the veggies done for tomorrow and table all laid, I've only got 8 for dinner this year, so a quiet one. So glad I feel able to do it at the mo, but already on countdown for T2 on NYE, urrrgh!!! I know what's to come this time.
i hope you all have a fabulous, and peaceful Christmas with your loved ones xxx

Hoping SE aren't so bad. FEC for me was awful , several infections,a hospital admission and shingles.Sooo many drugs to take. But now a new chapter , I wonder what it will bring. No more GCSF injections 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.would like to join the FB page... Please tell me how.x
good luck to everyone having treatment this week xxxxx
Rosie, my feet are so sore. Just been out for lunch with my two best chums and the ten minute walk back from the bus stop was painful. It's my little toes and the underside of some of the others that look like they have blisters. Nails seem okay at the moment but know what you mean about the upkeep of the dark nail varnish. Trying to find the end of the sellotape and present wrapping in general does not help with that either!
I'll stop moaning now as don't feel too bad apart from that.
I now have a couple of blisters on my small toes and big toes are rather tender. Nails seem okay, it's just the undersides. I hope that the Udder cream that has been recommended hurries up and arrives in the mail.
All Christmas shopping now done although still have some wrapping to do and several friends have birthdays between Christmas and New Year so need to sort that out. I am heading out for lunch today. Very windy here in South London so hope my headwear stays intact.
Festive felicitations to all.
Hi CB Ele, glad you are feeling better. What is it with this weight gain - I haven't really been able to eat and still I have put on weight. Had to take my wedding ring off yesterday before the circulation stopped in my hands. Hoping its all fluid and will drain away when chemo finished - don't really believe this as fluid would not create rolls!!! Hey ho. Have to go christmas shopping today, sigh - most of it is done on line, god bless amazon prime. Merry Christmas everybody xxxx
Hi Ele, will be interested to hear the results of your experiment. I'm taking that as well but only usually for the first week or so after a dose as things usually settle down after that. We are so pumped up with drugs that who knows what is causing it all?
Yes, Star Wars. Really enjoyed it and managed to totally switch off my brain for a few hours which was great. And did some shopping too. Managed to get through the entire day yesterday without a siesta. Feet hurt today though and not sure if that's to do with the relatively intense activity of yesterday after weeks of them not doing much except being in slippers or a chemo SE. Possibly both.
My main moan today is that our boiler has started to play up. Arghh. Oh well, it is actually sunny outside so I might pop out and see if I can get a bit of vitamin D at some point in the next few hours.
Hope you have a good day.
Oh Ele, it's a shame that you can't enjoy this hiatus between chemo and your rads starting early in the New Year a bit more. Hope you start to perk up in time for Christmas.
My temp has now gone down although I have napped the afternoon away and achieved absolutely nothing which is a shame. I am sure that I now sleep more than my cats.
Hoping to do the last bits of Christmas shopping on the way to the cinema tomorrow but am aware that I might be trying to fit in too much in one go. We shall see.
Morning Jayne. Glad you are feeling better. I'm a day behind you and was feeling pretty good yesterday but seem a lot more tired today so think it's going to be a day on the sofa watching movies for me. I'm off to the cinema tomorrow so saving my strength for that.
When I took my temp this morning it was at 37 which I know is still within normal but I'm normally around 36.7 so I'm keeping an eye on it. Mind you, it's so mild here today I've got two windows open - in December. So it might just be that.
Hope you get lots done today.
It's oh so quiet on here. Well for anyone that's around I'm 10 days post T1, and today is the most normal I have felt. Had a really rough 8 days with aches and flu like symptoms, then my temp started to rise yesterday, luckily it's back to normal now. I think I better strike whilst the iron is hot and get my last few Christmas bits done, it will be lovely to get out, not been out the house since last Saturday. Have a good weekend all, hope you not suffering too much xx
Thanks everyone for such a lovely warm welcome 🙂 Karen I've sent you a friends request (hope I got the right one!) sorry Emma I couldn't find you. Look forward to joining you all xx
Hi Nicky and welcome.
there is much more activity on the Facebook page, so please come along and join us there. I'm Emma.dean3
if you send me a friend request I can add you. Karen can too if you get to her first.
Welcome. The Facebook group is great and this place is good to stick around too as you get great folks like Jen and Peta popping in to help with their tips.
I had my first T last Friday and apart from a few aches, pains and tiredness am doing okay so far.
Hi Ncky, hope you're doing ok after your first T. The Facebook page is fab. I can add you if you send me a friend request, I'm Karen Roberts Burwin. Xx
Welcome! So sorry to hear you have had such a rough time so far 😞 Do hope the 20% reduction helps you get through with the T.
It it has been quiet on here by the looks of things. I've had a few no so good days and not been on line as much. You are right, there is a Facebook page and if you send me a request I acan easily add you to the group. It's a great group - as it is on here, very supportive and discusses everything you wish to it need to and it is a closed group so no one else sees it 😉 Gret sometimes to have that space to just say it as it is 🙂
On Facebook I'm Rosie Bunn (Timperley) and will happily add you.
Hi Nicky, sounds like you've had a tough time so far. Hope things improve. I think we are more active on FB than here now. It's a lady called Emma who set the page up, I can't remember how to add people but I'll ask her. I'm sure she'll be in touch. Chris x
Hello ladies, I've been reading all your lovely messages of support and friendship, what a wonderful group of ladies providing sanity to each other when you think your the only suffering with a particular symptom. 🙂 I too was an October starter of FEC-t and had my first Taxotere yesterday, which I was so nervous about!! FEC did not agree with me at all and ended up in a&e 4 times at the advice of paramedic and had a bout of 6 days in hospital quarantine with my last FEC. Thought I was going to go mad confined in that room, even prisoners get exercise 🙂 They have lowered my dose of Tax by 20% in the hope I don't end up back in hospital again. So far feel ok on Tax but couldbe calm before storm once steroids wear off..? Would love to join your group, things seem a little quiet on here recent so assume you all use the Facebook page instead? Can you let me know how to join? Xx
Jen Jen has it right. When I had it it really effected the taste of things - I could taste absolutely nothing at all. The main thing I spotted was that my tongue was covered in a thick white lumpy coating that could be very easily scraped off with a fingernail. My tongue was sore and swollen too, which made the sides of my tongue take on a scalloped shape, where it pressed against my teeth when it was swollen. I hope you don't get it, but if you're on T it seems that most people do. Rinsing with bicarbonate of soda and /or salt water is supposed to help a bit, but you do need the proper meds to make it go away.
I hope that none of you get it and that all of you have the best possible Christmas. Next year you'll be back here like me, I have the most astoundingly curly head of grey hair that you have ever seen, which is pretty funny because I had absolutely dead straight blond hair before. I look just like Peter Capaldi, the new Doctor Who, only more curly and daft. But it's hair and it's a lot warmer! 😄
Thanks Peta and Jen for the useful info re Thrush. I had my first 'T' on Friday and I do already have a strange feeling in my mouth and things don't taste so great. Stupid question, but how do you know If you have thrush? What's the main symptom? Here's hoping we all get to celebrate a little this year and look forward to making up for it next year! Chris xx
