Hi kate just read your post. I also suffer from pain. I am 4 years post mastectomy and recon and have learnt quite a lot about pain control. I have had all sorts of treatment but so far the best results have come from taking regular amytriptyline. I have constant pain which varies in intensity but never completely goes away. I have recently found out about a condition called post mastectomy pain syndrome and think this is what my problem is, although the medica have never mentioned it.
Hope you manage to get help with your pain

I was treated for breast cancer 5 years ago and have just stopped tamoxifen (hooray!).I have lymphodema in the affected breat which causes me no problem. I just wondered if anyone else 5 or more years down the road has episodes of intense pain in the neck/arm region of the affected side? The pain is unbearable and indescribable while it is there. I take strong painkillers for arthritis and even they don't touch the pain. All I can do is sit very still and take the weight off my arm. It usually lasts a couple of days and then just disappears! Does anyone else have this? If so what do you do to ease the pain? Have you ever found out what causes it? Thanks
Kate
