Please help IBC return after double mastectomy

Hi everyone

I wonder if you can help me we’re all feeling very lost at the moment. My mother in law had IBC 5 years ago and had 12 rounds of chemo and a double mastectomy with reconstruction. She found out three weeks ago it has come back in the leftover breast tissue and another type has developed in the left breast also. After lots of scans and a PET scan it’s shown it has spread to her chest and neck lymph nodes. They were going to operate and remove all reconstruction taking everything away as close to her chest wall as possible but now they know it’s in the lymph nodes, they are doing chemo first as they are concerned she won’t heal from the skin grafts in her chest and this will put chemo back. She has tried to see the professor again at the royal mars den but he is too busy to see her and the people he recommended are too busy also. Absolute joke time is of the essence here. My question is does anyone know of a IBC specialist who could help us? It’s so frustrating not knowing what the plan is going forward and we’re all terrified. Thank you so much for your time. Hi Jessica,
Sorry to hear what you’re all going through.
Is it possible to go with the plan your MIL has? At least treatment can then be started.
I’m not much use on this tbh & hopefully, one of the others wii be able to advise.
After the weekend, it maybe worth giving the bcc helpline here a ring 0808 800 6000, or posting in ‘ask our nurses’ as well.
