Hi I’m 35 yrs old and just found out I am pregnant after being diagnosed with BC 5 yrs ago at age 30. I used Zolodex while receiving chemo and have taken a break from Tamoxifen after 3 yrs to try for a baby. I am over the moon about my pregnancy as I have no children. I just wondered what experiences other women have had especially the physical effects on your breasts following surgery. Is breast feeding possible on the effected breast??? I would appreciate any advice xxx

Hi I had a masectomy in 2012. My daughter is 10 weeks old and I have been feeding her successfully since she was born of the one breast. I was told by a Breast feeding specialist that it is no different to feeding twins; as they only get one boob each. As I had a masectomy I’m not sure if it possible to Feed of the effected breast…but you should be just fine with your one good one. My advice would be get as much breastfeeding support as you can when baby is born as the first couple of weeks can be very challenghng.

Hi there, I was initially diagnosed when I was 29 back in 2013, my daughter was only a few weeks old! Mastectomy followed by chemo and radio!! Was tough but cancer was triple neg so no relation to hormones etc! I am again pregnant after I was told I wouldn’t have any more kids after the chemo and I didn’t want to harvest eggs etc!, I’m due in July!
Congrats to you, lovely news!! I have been told I can breast feed with remaining breast or express etc! Quite scary after what has happened previously but nature has found it’s own way lol!! When are you due? X

I am so happy as when I stopped the Tamoxifen to try I didn’t get my hopes up too much and if it had gone on too long I would have had to consider the consequences and would probably have gone back on the Tamoxifen at some point thinking it wasn’t going to happen. I didn’t have a mastectomy I had a lumpectomy. My scar is about 2.5 inches long from the edge of my nipple out towards my armpit. I was concerned because the scar is quite tight and I wondered if as my Breast grows it may cause issues and not sure if there is any damage to the nipple? The effected breast doesn’t seem to act the same as my other one. As in when my period was due the unaffected one was always tender but the effected one not at all. So it makes me wonder if there may be some long term nerve damage?
I am 6 weeks atm with my due date roughly Jan 3rd. I have an appointment with a midwife and have been told I will have early scans to keep a close check on things and will be seen regularly by a hospital consultant, which is all very reassuring knowing that we will both be taken good care off.
