Hi Sika, my mets were first picked up on an x-ray! I was having continous pain in my hip area and thought I had just pulled a muscle or something as I do a lot walking to try to keep fit, kept going to my GP who dx sciatica and gave me naproxen, after 6 months of still struggling with pain (I couldn't even lift my leg to get in the bath) I went back and he sent me for an x-ray and from what they saw on that I was sent for the bone scan.
This all happened last year, my primary dx was 2007 and I had never even heard of bone mets, I have them in my hips ribs and spine, back on tamoxifen and take naproxen the paracetamol, fortunately I get much pain now as my treatment is in place but before the mets were found I ended up in A&E a few times with horrendous back pain.
Good luck with your appt tomorrow
Hugs Janette xxxx
Are you on a hormonal treatment like Tamoxifen? If so, you can get bad bone pain as a side effect.
I have been diagnosed with bone mets and have regular CT scans - fortunately the mets seem to have sorted themselves out at the moment. Before I was diagnosed I had terrible joint/bone pain in my pelvis, but this went as soon as I started chemo.
