Re: RIP sdfmeg1 Margaret

Hello everyone,

I want to do something proactive in memory of my mum, so I have been training for the Macmillan Lido Challenge. Mum always really supported me throughout my swimming training and competitions (even when I wasn't so keen!), so it really seems like a great way to remember her

I am also trying to write a blog, although I have a fair few sessions to catch up on writing about!

I want to continue to keep raising money for cancer support, so once I have completed the Lido challenge, I am going to do a sponsored swim for the Cancer Care forum and Cancer Research. Any other recommendations are more than welcome!

Thank you all so much for your kind messages and support.

Re: RIP sdfmeg1 Margaret

I think that is a lovely idea Nicola and I am sure Margaret would second it. I just feel a bit lost really. I am still in shock that this could happen so quickly and it fills me with dread for myself and my family. God knows how Margaret's family must feel. I have messaged Ella, Margaret's daughter, to say that many people have been as stunned as myself to hear their news and many people wish to send their condolences. Margaret was a prolific poster, always knowledgable and often witty and I shall miss her wisecracks, dark sense of humour and sage words of wisdom. Even though I only knew her for a short time my life feels richer for knowing her. If the family are happy, I will post details re: flowers/donations etc, when I have them. RIP Margaret. An angel taken too soon. Free from pain. But our sorrow at your passing will remain every day. Emma x

Re: RIP sdfmeg1 Margaret

I have decided to dedicate my Race for Life to Margaret's memory, I am doing a 10K walk on July 14th in Stevenage with my friend Carol. If any of you feel you would like to contribute here is my JustGiving page. I hope this is taken in the way it is meant and that I am not being cheeky, that's the last thing I want, I just need to do something to help find the cures that will stop this happening to others and their families, hopefully I am one of the lucky ones, at the moment I am fit and well, but as we all know you never know what may be lurking around the corner. Rest in peace Margaret, you will always be in my thoughts x.

I second all these condolences- she was clearly a beautiful person and a great role model who reached out to so many on these threads without a trace of selfishness-great respect.

Margaret will be missed by so many. For me it was her humour and good advice that kept me going through chemo. I'm so sad that we will never meet. My thought and prayers go to her family.

Re: RIP sdfmeg1 Margaret

I am completely saddened and shocked by this news.

Margaret was a lovely lady with a great sense of humour who gave lots of support to us september sapphires. I can't believe she has gone, she only messaged me on the 4th May with little indication of what lay ahead - it must have happened so quickly. My heart goes out to her family, it must have been such a shock for them.
Rest in peace Margaret. x

Margaret was a wonderful person. She helped me and others through tough times despite facing so many problems herself. We went through chemo together and she was always there with support and humour. My deepest sympathy for her family and friends. I feel very sad that I will not get to meet Margaret in person, see any more pictures of her amazing dressmaking creations, or read any more of her thoughtful or funny posts. RIP Margaret, taken away too soon but never forgotten.

I am so sad that Margaret has passed. I intended to meet up with her one day and give her a hug, as 'thanks' for all the support she offered me. She was a lovely person. I shall miss her, even though we only knew each other through occasional messages.

Re: RIP sdfmeg1 Margaret

Hi all,

Thank you so much for your messages and support. This has come as such a shock for our family and mum's friends. We really thought she had beat cancer again. I wish I could have been there more for her in her fight. She was a brilliant mum, I love her and I will miss her so much. Thank you Emma for passing the message on and for supporting Margaret through her difficult times.

On behalf of myself and all of mum's family I wish you the best and thank you warmly again.

RIP sdfmeg1 Margaret

I have just heard the devestating news from Ella, Margaret's daughter, that Margaret passed away at 4 am this morning. She was admitted to hospital over the weekend, after deteriorating very rapidly, and ws taken away very quickly but peacefully. I had only just received a card from her on Friday wishing me luck for my op last week and had planned to call her this afternoon. I am absolutely devastated. We had planned to meet up later this year when we had got through all our treatment. Although I never met her personally, we had a great friendship online and by phone and she supported me a lot and helped me and gave me a lot of advice about treatment options. She was fiesty and frank and funny and supremely brave. And she was a damn fine dressmaker to. I would like to pass all on my condolences onto her wonderful OH and her children and her family at this time. I can't believe this has happened, and so suddenly. To lose one so brave and wonderful is very hard indeed. Words cannot express the grief I feel and extreme sorrow and pain for her family. Rest peacefully with the angels Margaret. All my love to you and I shall think of you every day. Emma x
