Radiotherapy on bone met site..

Hi… For those who have had rads to bones mets… 2 questions

1/ was it to reduce pain ? Or for another reason… .

For me they did it to try and improve a weakness I have in my calf… Not convinced it’s the mets but hey ho… they zapped the lower part of my spine.

2/ How quick/slow did you notice any effects?

Thanks

Hi Helen,
I had widespread rads in pelvis after a fairly sudden progression in bones after exemestane failed to work. It was done to try to halt the progression and to help with the pain.
The progression did stop but I think that probably was more as a result of chemo working but impossible to tell. It did help with pain but didn’t stop it by any means. It took about 3 or 4 weeks to see any improvements and it probably got worse before it got better with quite a few pain spikes during that time. xxx

Hiya Helen
I had a blast of rads on my hip but three days later had to have a emergency op on femur so I don’t really know if it benefited or not !!
I was told that it can get worst during the first two weeks before it kicks in.
Sorry not much help.
Xxx

I hope that you get some relief from the rads …I’m sure if it was a waste of time they would not spend so much time and money doing it .
Maybe you will get some more replies by looking at other threads …
