I am so unhappy with the way the mini LD feels I really want it removed. I went to a BCC conference where a plastic surgeon said the LD was rubbish. The muscle keeps wanting to go backwards, it is bulgy, it is tight - all this has come true for me. Plus painful and I keep thinking and feeling it is going to rip as I have put a lot of weight on - 4 stone! I asked 3 women who had had it and they were happy so decided to go ahead. I don’t feel safe with it - don’t want to travel invade something happens to me. I so regret involving my back and wish I’d just had an implant. Though reading a few posts here again just now reminds me of the many things that can go wrong and be difficult for people. I don’t get why it feels so uncomfortable sometimes much more than other times - the nurse told me not to put more than 1/2 stone one and I have put on 4 due to stress and depression. Has anyone ever been so unhappy with it and had it removed and what happened? Was it a success? Any comments / thoughts would be very welcomed. It is good I have read a few posts and been bought back down to the reality of this dreadful situation.

I met up with the consultant breast care nurse today and had a 40 minute chat. It was good to feel heard and clear up a lot of of stuff. 1) Admitted it may not have been best for me to havevreconstriction at the same time 2) they could have discussed options much more thourougly given there was 7 months between diagnosis and surgery 3) she had never heard of people being told they can’t put on more than 1/2 a stone, this may have only been during first 6 months to a year 4) she had never heard of someone rupturing their LD flap - a big fear of mine 5) will refer to physio for help to restore confidence in my movement in that arm 6) will refer to psychology longer wait to help manage discomfort. She was very nice and said taking it down might not resolve my issues and implants can be problematic also as can the other ops - need more support to help me live with this one basically.
Hi kirstykat, glad you got to speak to the nurse in depth. Hopefully the treatment and support she’s referred you for will help.
I have a friend who had a failed DIEP followed by LD within the same week. That was 3 years ago and she’s very active with horses, and delighted with the result.
I would suggest that you ask to see your surgeon again for advice as they may be able to revise it especially as you’re in so much discomfort.

That is really encouraging. I think I was forgetting how there is no easy solution to this. I have see 2 surgeons now and both are really reluctant to do any further surgery to it. One said I should go on pregabilin
