Re: Really worried

Hi Julie,
I am sorry you are worried. You should at least have had a Fine Needle examination whereas they take a bit of the lump and examine it. This should give a quick diagnostic on wether they need to investigate further. Depending on your age a mammogram would not be very useful as it does not tend to be sufficient for pre menauposal women.
It is likely to be something benign and you want to put your mind at rest. Go back to your GP and express your concerns.
Best of luck.

Really worried

I recently found a lump in my right breast and went to see my GP who could also feel the lump and referred me to my local breast clinic at my local hospital. I had my appointment today and I was only given a very swift examination and told that yes they could feel the lump but that it was probably fatty breast tissue and no other tests or investigations would be carried out and that was the end of my consultation. It lasted no longer than 5 minutes. I cannot understand why no other tests or investigations are deemed necessary. How can they know that it is fatty tissue without investigating further. Should I go back to my GP and let her know how I feel? I am afraid of looking silly. I thought that having this consultation would ease my concerns but I feel just and worried and nervous about this lump. I wonder if anyone has had any similar experiences or can give me some advice as to what I should do.

Many thanks.

Julie
