Re: Recommedations for breast cancer specialist in London (or Essex)

Hi, the nhs hospital in Chelmsford has a very good reputation - but I have no personal experience with them.
Perhaps some others her might have ?

About going private? One thing that concerned me about this was that with the NHS you have a multidisciplinary team looking after you, which includes breast surgeons, radiologist, oncologist, radio therapist etc. and I don't know what private hospitals do about this - I think this is something that the helpline may be able to advice about. I choose to stay with the NHS 🙂

Does you friend have a breast care nurse who she can talk to, and discuss her concerns with?

Thanks so much. I will use helplines.Unfortunately we already have concerns about some of what my friend has been told verbally by radiograoher etc that can not be correct so confidence not high already lSmiley Sad

It would be great if anyone could suggest someone they think is good on the NHS or privately in London etc.  Thanks so much.

Re: Recommedations for breast cancer specialist in London (or Essex)

Hi Hoping1, sorry to hear of your friends diagnosis. My breast care nurses say you can get a referral to a hospital of your choice, but be aware it may cause a delay in treatment while it gets arranged.

NHS breastcancer treatment is excellent in my experience, and you will get the same treatment as going privately.

I am sure someone who is in the know about private treatment will be along soon.

I wish you and your friend all the best and that all goes well whatever is decided:)x

Recommedations for breast cancer specialist in London (or Essex)

Unfortunately a friend has been recently diagnosed and we are already dubious about local hospital dealing and want to move. Is anyone able to recommend a good breast cancer specialist or particular hospital to go to. Is there any pont in paying to go private if she can afford it - wil treatment be any different? Thanks so much.
