Re: Reconstructed nipple can they be moved after they've been done

Hi JillyBee, I'm assuming you have had bilateral mastectomies and I'd be very interested to discuss this with you, especially as you said you have had the implants removed and are now awaiting DIEP recon.

I had bilat mxs in September 2013 as I did have cancer in both breasts, did you or was the other breast removed as a precaution.  What type of recon did you have, again I'm presuming immediate with tissue expander implants?  That's what I had and after 3 weeks in hospital and 4 operations later they had to be removed so I'm currently got nothing.  I am however going into hospital tomorrow morning (Tues 21st Jan) to have tissue expanders put in again to start to stretch up the loose skin that was left behind (but now stuck down) and will have to think about what type of permanent recon I want.

Why have you chosen to go down the DIEP route and not your tummy (as you said you were trying to get your weight down before surgery)?

Perhaps you want to private message me and then we can carry on this conversation there?

Hoping to hear from you soon JillyBee x

Samos, I see you had a double DIEP, were you OK? I am going for one, I am lead to understand the arm movement is restricted somewhat...The leaflet I have just tells you about your arm movement, as in one arm. How did you manage?I am now on the list, No cancer as had mastectomies, however, implants were taken out in the end, so now opting foDIEP, waiting a while to get weight down amd fitness levels up.

Hi there. Yes, they can be repositioned. I had one of mine - I had immediate double DIEP - lifted and reduced and the 'nipple' was then repositioned.
I believe that after bc we all deserve to be happy with our new boobs, so I would ask your ps...

Re: Reconstructed nipple can they be moved after theyve been done

Hi there

If you are not happy with the end result, do have a chat with your PS to see what can be done. You have been through a hell of a lot of surgeries, so you want things to look right don't you.

Nipple recons can look odd. Mine was done 14 months ago and for ages, it was so large and erect!. Now it has shrunk and is very flat. I had the areola tatooed 10 months ago, but i want it topping up, as it has faded considerably now.

We deserve to be happy with the final result and if you are not, let your PS know, - he may able to do something for you. That said, it is still earlys for you , so maybe give it a chance to settle and see how you feel?

Best of luck

Reconstructed nipple can they be moved after theyve been done

Hi

Has anybody who has had their nipple reconstructed had it altered after it was done. I had mine done beginning Dec and I know they have to settle but I don't have a problem with the size. And looking straight into the mirror its a pretty good result. But I hate it looking down at it as it does not look in the right spot at all then and to me looks really wierd. Having been through 4 surgeries upto my mx then a diep and later uplift to other breast and lipo on recon once settled, it seems so trivial a thing to be bothering about but its getting me down.

Am I just daft and do you get used to it, I'm still putting on the dressings so that I don't have to look at it at the moment
