Re: Reconstruction - national audit

Hi Lotty

My form was sent direct from the Royal College of Surgeons in London as I think this is where the info is being collated.

Re: Reconstruction - national audit

it's a bit behind the times as the only people who can fill it in are people who had mastectomies. Some surgeons are now doing reconstructions on people who had partial mastectomies/lumpectomies

Re: Reconstruction - national audit

I got sent the wrong one too. I opted to NOT have recon and got the recon questionnaire, they sent me the right one in the end.

I must admit I found a few of the questions did not have an answer that I felt was accurate but this is always the problem with questionnaires and polls.

Re: Reconstruction - national audit

Thanks for this Lizzie. I was asked if I would like to participate when I had my mastectomy in April. I sent my questionnaire back a few weeks ago. It would be good to see recommendations following this.

Marita- How is your chemo going ?

Re: Reconstruction - national audit

I was asked and received my questionnaire a few days ago but they sent the wrong one as I have had reconstruction and was sent the one for those who hadn't. I phoned and they were very grateful as the company responsible for sending them made a lot of mistakes. If any one else got the wrong one it's easy to let them no and get the right one sent out.

Reconstruction - national audit

Hello everyone!

Has anyone else been involved in the current national mastectomy and breast reconstruction audit?

You would have been asked to register when you had your op and then sent a follow up questionnaire around 3 months later.

Even if you haven't taken part in this audit, you might find the result of the first part of the audit interesting. If you do a search on 'national mastectomy and breast reconstruction audit', you should be able to find a site where you can download a pdf of the report.

The findings result in recommendations for the management of patients requiring mastectomy and possible reconstruction which I found useful - the importance of a multidisciplinary team, for example. They're also advocating that more surgeons are trained as oncoplastic specialists (I think there are around 40 of them nationally at present)

Please let me know if you can't find the report and I can send a copy.
