Hi all
Has anyone had a tissue expander removed and a permanent implant inserted?
I had this done yesterday on my mx side, but i need to have the other side done at a later date. Prob a lift and another implant.
I wish the surgeon could have done both sides at the same time, but he said he wanted to let the mx side heal and then he could get a better idea of what would need doing to the other one.

Hi, yes i have had this done as my diep reconstruction failed due to poor blood supply. The implant will take abt six months to settle down as your skin will stretch and change a bit. It is better to wait for this to settle down, before doing the other side. Hope this reassures a bit.
Hi Naz - how long did you have the expander in for before yesterday? I’m curious how long mine will be left before changing over.

Hi…Ive had my expanders in nearly a year. I have pushed to get the permanent one done. Which will be in Nov. I think it depends on the hospital and how busy are. But a year seems to be normal.
