I am a private patient, so the choice is mine. And anyway it isn't healthy if I keep getting all these calcifications 😭
Sorry Ali, just realised that yours was first POST OP mammo, not first ever. (Need to get an eye test soon....) But the post below still applies - calcificatoins are very often benign I think. All the best. xxxxxx
just to say that I too was recalled 14 years ago after my very first mammogram and had a biopsy. Result - benign calcifications, which i have had ever since and never given me any bother. My breast cancer diagnosis last November was unrelated to the calcificatons (which as far as I know i still have!) 'cos I asked, and I gather as we get older most of us have them. What is good is that assuming yours are bengn too, your routine 3 yearly mammos will give them a chance to monitor any changes, if any, over the years. 2 weeks seems like an eternity, but fingers crossed for a good result. xxx
Nope. Next week . 😳 Not hopeful and wish I had opted for a Masectomy now rather than go through all this stress.
I have just had my first post op mammogram and have been told I need another biopsy as some of the calcifications appear to have moved? Possible they could be a new DCIS. It is in the area of the original DCIS, which has been successfully removed and is no longer showing on mammogram. Has anyone else been recalled after their first mammogram for similar concerns. My consultant thinks it is probably old calcifications, which have moved post op, but wants to be sure. Mor anxious waiting....
