Re: Saw my oncologist today for first time.

Hi, well had my first chemo on Monday and not as bad as I thought. God what a lot of pills I have had to buy a notebook and make a daily chart to tick them off. I feel absolutely fine just a little reflux one evening but some Gaviscon sorted it out. I played 9 holes of golf with my husband yesterday and I beat him - it's got to be the pills. I am drinking so much water and live in the loo. I have been eating quite normally except for sweets and cakes but no doubt that will change. Love to everyone who has just started chemo and we will all get through this. Eileen Xx💂💂🌟👍

Re: Saw my oncologist today for first time.

Hi Lena I have just finished 6 rounds of chemo, it was hard at times but doable. Everybody's treatment plan is tailored to suit them so I really wouldn't worry about your age. There have been younger women whose dosage has been reduced because their body has reacted badly. We are all different and some women have very little side effects. You will be in good hands. My advice would be don't suffer in silence with any side effects, ring straight away. My nurses would sort me out the same day to relieve any side effects. Good luck I hope it all goes well for you.

Lena, from what I can gather if you are fit and healthy before treatment starts, it stands you in good stead for what is to come.  I'm glad you are keeping active too.  I'm getting in as much swimming as I can before my chemo starts.  During it, I will try and keep up my running, but if not able, at least a walk every day!!!!

Ok, so you are 74, but I'll bet compared to most women your age you look and feel great!.  Good Luck xx

Good luck on your results. Mine were ok - 2 small cysts spotted but consultant reassured me nothing to worry about most people have these. Better get up now as my husband has just made the tea and he has shouted up the stairs he is not bringing it up. I think he has stopped mollycoddling me. Anyway I have to get ready for aqua aerobics soon - may be my last visit for sometime. Keep positive and strong.

Vodka sounds good. Where I live they do all the scans first then from the results sort out a treatment plan. Today at 4pm is my results appt. I'm a wreck thinking it spread, but hoping to feel calmer once I get a plan. I an 40 so it's going to be chemo. I'll be having a glass of red about same time you have your vodka Lena - chin chin !!!

Re: Saw my oncologist today for first time.

Much thanks for your support. Definitely feeling wobbly as it all gets nearer. Have great support from my husband and friends at the moment and my dear daughter who lives in Sydney rings every night. I shall see the family when they come in June but my daughter will be on the next plane if I really need her. My only concern is will I be getting the same treatment as a 40 year old? I am really fit (ha ha except for this) and hope they are seeing beyond my age. I need a double vodka now enough of my moaning, I will keep positive.

Re: Saw my oncologist today for first time.

Thanks for your good wishes. I really am starting to wobble now as everything is imminent. I am a very strong person and extremely active golf, gym etc so shall keep positive that I will get back in the swing again. Off on Friday to get my wig in readiness to becoming a "bald old broad". Our son is taking my husband and I to the pub tonight so I think I will have a few double vodkas!!! Cheers

Re: Saw my oncologist today for first time.

Lena, I am due to see my oncologist on Monday with a view to start chemo the week after - to be followed by mastectomy and reconstruction later in the year. I too will have 6 sessions, but as I'm only 43, they will go the full whack with the chemo, but fingers crossed it will be kind to me. Good luck with your treatment xx

Saw my oncologist today for first time.

starting chemo in the next 2 weeks to shrink the tumour then mastectomy. Is anyone or has anyone undergone this at age 74. I have been so upbeat about this but now I am really wavering. Will be having 75% strength to start because of my age to see how I cope. 6 sessions planned. OMG!
