Secondary Breast Cancer that has mestasied to the Liver

Re: Secondary Breast Cancer that has mestasied to the Liver

I was diagnosed with Sec. BC in Oct 15. I have lesions in my lung, and the bottom of my spine, plus
lymph nodes. I was put on Letrozole and am due to have a scan in June - it seems a long time away and
I wonder whether I should have chemo first although the tumour has shrunk from 24 to 17mm and there has been a reduction else ware. It is so hard to know if the treatment you've been given is the best route to go.
I've been lucky that I've felt well all the way through, apparently my onc thinks I've had cancer for about 2 1/2
To 3 yrs.

I can understand how you feel, I think we have to try and stop looking at statistics and remember that each
Cancer diagnosis is different, I know that with all the different drugs now available we can sometimes go on
for a number of years. Keep your spirits up!

Don't know next step yet but hopeful hormone therapy for a very long time. Please keep in touch with the good and the bad xxxx

Re: Secondary Breast Cancer that has mestasied to the Liver

Hi Kimmy,
Have just bumped up a liver mets thread for you in the living with secondary BC section.
I hope you had positive scan results. I am not on the same treatment as you so cannot advise but I have liver mets, discovered in June 2014. I'm on Abraxane and avastin at the moment and awaiting scan results after my 6th cycle.xxx

Re: Secondary Breast Cancer that has mestasied to the Liver

Hi Kimmy,

As you've not had replies yet I'll post something, though the exemestane/everolimus combo is one of the few bc treatments I haven't had (other than Herceptin, my disease is HER negative).

Just wanted to say something about life expectancy - I was dx with multiple liver mets in 2009 and I am still on active anticancer treatment, capecitabine chemo at the moment.  Until a year ago I had good quality of life, no liver-related symptoms that I'm aware of, so there is hope even after a liver mets dx.  Letrozole is a good one - I've had it twice!  It's possible to switch between chemos and hormonal treatments (if your onc agrees, of course).

Secondary Breast Cancer that has mestasied to the Liver

Hello, I was diagnoised with Secondary Breast cancer on 7th December 2012 so am into my 2nd year.  At first had 18 weeks of chemo, then was Letrozole for over a year which worked very well and shrunk a lot of the lesions.  Last September, had another scan and it showed one old lesion and one new one, have been taken Exemstrane and Eveirolumis, due another scan this coming monday 2nd march 2015.

Would like to hear from anyone else who has either been on this drug or also has it on there liver.

Would like to know how you are doing and how long you have had it.

Keep reading different statistics but life expectancy and am making myself feel very scared!!!!
