Seeking advice on dealing with periods during chemotherapy

Hi, 

 

I’m almost half way through my 6 cycle chemo plan and need advice on dealing with periods. I have read on some websites that tampons cannot be used during chemo due to the increased risk of infection; is this the case?

I am also half way through but have not heard that about tampons. Just maintain extra cleanliness I guess washing hands before and after and be mindful to remove the last one. I had serious chemo brain after my last session and couldn’t remember if I had taken the last one out or not and couldn’t find string anywhere so had to do a dash to the nurse! Doh!

I personally couldn’t think of anything worse than trying to use pads as well as having chemo se’s.

If in doubt ask your chemo nurse.
