Re: Shampoo to encourage faster hair regrowth after chemo?

I think it comes from global companies as many countries read 'holiday' as public holidays and 'leave' as personal holidays (not that it explains why hosptial staff are using the term). We call it PTO (paid time off), took me a while to get used to that one!

Sounds about right nannabarb.
Maybe someone on here can answer a totally unrelated question. Why is it that while we all have holidays, medical people always have annual leave?? All the doctors and nurses at my surgery say they, or a colleague are on annual leave. I used to say I'm on holiday, when I was working.

Hopefully no need to panic, I had something similar happened last year when my chemo follow up was brought forward by 2 Months! Frightened the life out of me, but turned out it was because of his holiday dates....

Good luck, fingers crossed for you xxx

Re: Shampoo to encourage faster hair regrowth after chemo?

I also mentioned this product FAST shampoo several days ago but I was concerned about the ingredients so I emails the makers to see if ther shampoo contained anything harmful to fragile chemo hair or hair retained through using the coldcap. Threy emailed me immediately with the ingredients and they contain Sodium Laureth Sulpathes which produce a good lather but are very harmful.
Thiss product is apparently intended for chemo patients when they have lost all hair and it is beginning to come through again.

HOWEVER - it depends how rich you are - but they do another product called Thymu Skin Super Medication Kit which is recommended for use PREFERABLY starting before chemo starts but can be used at any time. Tests have been done which shows that 86% (I think that was the number) of ladies who used this product before starting chemo, kept their hair. There is only on drug it doesn't work on and that begins with A but I can't remember it off hand. The thing to do is to go into the site and somewhere that sells it and read all the bumph. It's quite impressive, but you may need to take a second mortgage out on the house! It is made by Sunset Hair & Beauty but if you type in Thymu (or Thymus) skin shampoo you should get there. I can't seem to make a link come up on this page.

Hello you lovely ladies
An odd thing happened this afternoon. I have been waiting for a letter from oncologist giving me an appointment. The oncologist's secretary rang to ask me to go in for appointment IN TWO DAYS TIME. Is this normal, or should I panic. Only got results of op and node biopsy a week ago.

Re: Shampoo to encourage faster hair regrowth after chemo?

Hi there, ive mentioned this product and article in another post yesterday... I'm 18months post chemo with very thin sparse hair in a kind of 'male pattern' baldness way - cant even get it to grow enough for a 'Bobby Charlton' comb-over.
Some are of the opinion that its just another way to extract money from desperate people but I think I AM desperate enough to give it a try... I did post the link on another thread, but here it is again.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2257448/Wash-amp-Grow-Shampoo-trigger-hair-growth-twice-norm...
There are lots of positive feedback on Amazon for it, but hardly any from cancer patients....
Spookymoo, I used to be like you, when I thought my hair WOULD grow back, now it doesnt seem so likely, I find I am really struggling with confidence and seeing myself as attractive at all, not helped by the fact that I KNOW my partner is no longer attracted to me (actions speak louder than words..), I am desperate to restore some femininity.

Nioxin is another one which is supposed to speed up hair growth. Ive been using it since chemo finished in july but not sure really if its made my hair grow any quicker or not. My hairdresser seems to think it has made a difference though!

Lets see if anyone can review it for us, I also looked up natural ways to help growth and things like rosemary essential oil is a good one, who knows until we start. Also Aveda have a range supposed to do the same, which the salon said other ladies had been successful with. That will probably be quite expensive, Ebay has quite a list of shampoos which say hair growth too.

Hello and hugs to you ladies,
I'm not a fellow chemo person but my local hair salon is selling some shampoo which is meant to promote hairgrowth and has been proven to do so apparently. My hairdresser who suffers from stress and loses bits of her hair says it works. I can find out the name of it for you if you want. I live in the Horsham area.

Re: Shampoo to encourage faster hair regrowth after chemo?

Thanks for the post poemsgalore. I am not sure if this product is as good as it says (nothing ever is) but wanted to post it as I know losing hair from chemo is a really big issue and if someone buys it and it helps them then its worthwhile. Me, I am as bald as a coot and I really don't care! I had long hair down to my waist before I started treatment and now it is all gone. But I wear my bald badge with pride - I may not have conquered cancer yet - but I have certainly conquered chemo! Losing your hair is a small price to pay! Wishng you good luck on the "ride" that is chemo. It is certainly not fun but it is doable and you will be amazed how well you will cope with it! Good luck on the "pink road" and good vibes too. x

Hugs back spookymoo, I'm always amazed at ladies on chemo, I've seen several at the breast clinic, and you all look gorgeous. I hope when I start it I look half as good. Needless to say, many might want to spend that much on a shampoo that helps faster hair growth. I just think it's a shame that companies feel the need to profit from those who are suffering. xxx

Shampoo to encourage faster hair regrowth after chemo?

Hi to all of us Baldies out there. Thanks to Katie 2002 for the original reference to this post on another thread. I am not sure how to bump this up? Article in the Daily Mail recently about "Fast" a new shampoo which is suposed t accelerate hair regrowth. The article states it is sold out within launch in Canada in 24 Hours and already a 5,000 strong waiting list when it launches at Boots on 23rd January. HNot sure if I am allowed to post the link to the article?
I am bald and beautiful and proud to be so, but may be worth the £24.99 if it grows back quicker?Hugs and good vibes to all cancer warriors, bald or not, out there. We are so worth it! x
