So upset today.

I managed to see my gp this morning to get a referral to the breast clinic. He read the letter the doc from last night wrote and said its not urgent so it’s a 4-6 week wait! Didn’t even examine me. The letter didn’t mention the thickening or how much things have changed in the last 2 weeks. So upset that I have to wait so long :frowning:

Don’t despair it’s hard I know it really is all about waiting when you get an appt you could always ring and see if the clinic can change it to an earlier one maybe a cancellation please stay strong it will be sorted hugsx

_ Sinfully, I already put this on your other post, but will repeat it here in case you didn’t see it. _

"Sinfully, I have put a link to the guidelins for GP referral, which is on this site:
breastcancercare.org.uk/node/1153841
This is a quote from it:
"In England, guidance from the Department of Health says that all patients referred by a GP to a specialist with breast symptoms, even if cancer is not suspected, should be seen within two weeks. Until recently, if your GP felt the referral was urgent, you would be seen within two weeks of them requesting an appointment for you. If it was non-urgent you may have waited longer. It may take some time before this guidance is implemented in all areas so if you have queries about the waiting time for your appointment, talk to your GP.“”

Thank you poemsgalore. Really appreciate that link. I chased my docs all day today to make sure i definitely got referred and finally at 5.30pm I got confirmation it was faxed across. Not bad considering my doc said he was doing it at 9am lol
I also found out that it has been faxed straight to the breast clinic and not to the booking service which hopefully means I will get an appointment soon. I’ve been in agony all day today and shave been taking ibuprofen like they were smarties! It seems to help for about 2hours and then the pain comes back :frowning:
Looby I will be ringing the breast clinic on Monday and asking about cancellations thank you. I wouldn’t have known about this if you hadn’t of said. X

Hi Sinfully,
I’m really glad you chased them up and hope you get an appointment really quickly. So sorry you are in so much pain though!!
Sending big hugs and wishing you well. Take care.
Poemsgalore xx

Thank you poems. I’m wiped out today for some reason. Probably mixture of pain, painkillers, worry and lack of sleep (due to worry & pain lol)
thank you for the hug tho. Very much needed xx

Wish I’d only had a 4-6 week wait. I was classed as ‘urgent’ and waited 3 months to finally get a cancellation not even my own appointment. I was told to expect a 4 month wait, yes 4 months. So while 4-6 weeks seems like a lifetime it could be worse.

Good luck and I hope that your GP is right and that you are NOT an ‘urgent’ case.

I’m astounded ladies!!
I saw my GP and was at the breast clinic a week later.
I cant imagine the depths of your despair right now…I would take it up with your GP and see what they can do .
I Feel you ladies :frowning:
Good Luck, keep us informed.
