Sunshine After the Showers

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Yes Tricia, that's a point I hadn't thought about catching bugs sitting there lol. Well I will have had 22 weeks off when this runs out, so that only leaves another 6 paid. Might have I to try for that n see how it goes. If I have to rest after taking my dog for a 20 min walk, I certainly aren't up to lifting pans and stuff weighing in excess of 20 lbs. this is when you wish you had an office job lol x

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi Nenya

I had the same when i was first dx with bc i was asked to write a letter to my doctor describing why and for how long i wanted a sick certificate and she gave me one for 3 months without seeing me.

I am going to do the same again for another 3 months, To be honest i am glad as i dont want to have to sit in the waiting room with others that are sick and i could catch bugs.

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi Eileen728 No other tests, the consultant examined my breast, checked my arm movement & the scars. I was worried that they would do a mammogram & was relieved that did not happen. I was advised not to use the natural progesterone cream I'd been using before BC diagnosis, so have to put up with hot flushes & am trying Black Cohosh Back to work full time Just like nothing has happened! Have a good weekend xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Excellent Sunflower - my appointment in July so hope the same happens to me. Did they do anything more than look at scar? Any tests?
Well done to your daughter AG - fantastic effort!
Aren't we all doing well? - just finished 2 weeks half days at work and back properly next week. Went for a swim yesterday and finally feeling like me. Love to everyone xxxx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Glad the appointment went well today Sunflower. I have mine on the 23 June. Already have my first Mammogram appointment booked for next March. Been whittling about the June appointment so glad to hear its just a quick check up x

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Follow up appointment went ok today All healed fine No further treatment required Yipee 😀 Next appointment in March 2016 for 1st of 5 year annual mammograms Very relieved Hope you are all doing well too xxx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

That's a brilliant amount of sponsorship, she should be very proud! X

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Wow that's a huge chunk of money, well.done to her, you are rightly proud xxxxx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi ladies hope everyone is having a good weekend and enjoying the sunshine.

Proud mum moment today. My daughter took part in the Race for Life in Nottingham this morning. She is someone who doesn't even walk anywhere never mind run! She did it though because of what we as a family have gone through this year and also her friend at work who is a currently being treated for a different cancer. She has raised about £370 x

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Feeling happier today as I have managed to wear one of my bras I used to wear before my WEL in Feb 😃

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi All, feeling quite chuffed tonight as I went for a run earlier for the first time since my op. Managed to run about half and walk half, now I'm waiting to see if the fake boob complains! I did wear two bras though!! Feeling much more positive this week! Xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Thanks Eileen, as usual, wasn't worth the worry! 3 month appt to see the nurse. Onwards and upwards. Didn't help that the wind must have blown the side gate open, so at 7.30 in my jimmies, shouting for dog down road. She came back for treat box rattling. I needed to set off by 8 as my road into town closed, so I had to go via a long route with one track road, eeek not too good when lorries coming the other way 🙂

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi Eileen No hangover thank goodness Just as well as I was on an info stand most of today I've got my follow up appointment on 9 June I'm having hot flushes & still feel tired xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi Nenya,
Weird isn't it that every time we have any sort of appointment we get worked up - well I do anyway! Think I just want to forget about it but any sort of medical appointment means I can't. If your GP anything like mine they seem just happy to sign you off for as long as you feel unable to work. Good luck with it all xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi, hope everyone is doing ok, I have my oncologist follow up appt tomorrow and for some reason am getting quite worked up about it 😕 nothing I can say to him but having hot flushes and feel 90! Got to ring up about another sick note on Thursday too. Wasn't given the opportunity to see a doc, just ring up and the receptionist will pass message on. How will she know if I am fit for work or not? Feeling puzzled 😞 xxx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hope no hangover this morning Sunflower. Glad you had a good time. Friends keep telling me I look really well too. Hope they are right! xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hello Hope all of you have had a good weekend We've just returned home after spending the day with friends who said I look really well I've drunk quite a lot of rose wine today, more than I've drunk in months. Think I'll be having an early night hic 🍷 xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

I really admire all of you who are coping with going out to work. I completed my treatment a couple of months ago. I am a pensioner. Prior to the cancer diagnosis I was so weary and exhausted that I could hardly put one foot in front of another. During chemo I felt like a limp rag. Strangely, post-treatment, I am hyperactive, run up the stairs two at a time (shouldn't, I know, but it is a hard habit to break) can limbo and have so much surplus energy that I am nearly bouncing off the walls just like a kid with ADHD!!!  Has anyone else experienced this reaction or am I just strange?

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Back from a lovely few days walking in the Peak District - just what I needed though I did feel unreasonably knackered and more achey than I would normally expect at the end of a walk. Weirdly aching elbow joint . BUT it was good - feels like moving on. Hope everyone else doing well too xxx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi all, have spent the day gardening and now feeling very stiff! Don't think I can blame the BC though just a long time since I did any serious gardening! Need to definitely work on my fitness! Xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hope all of you are having a good BH weekend. I've had a very busy full on week at work, I like being busy, but I feel very tired now. I had two late nights both of which involved long driving journeys in the dark, one for an work related info session and another meeting up with friends who all said I look really well. My nipple has been itchy, anyone else experiencing this? I had to stop HRT immediately back in Jan, I'd been on it for 19 years since my full hysterectomy in 1995. now find I'm experiencing lots of hot flushes - I bought some Black Cohosh tablets yesterday and am hoping these will stop the hot flushes. Best wishes to you all xxx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi Eileen, sorry I realise now about the melodeon, think because I was talking about sport I thought it was some sport I hadn't heard of!!!xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi all - Glad you popped in here Sharon. I keep losing track of people!
Kiki - melodeons are like accordions but with buttons instead of keys. I'm not very good but it makes a lovely noise even when you are a complete beginner like me. Though my neighbours might not agree. You must need a lot of energy for primary Kiki - I teach sixth formers but sometimes feel little ones more grown up and civilised!
xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi ladies, hope you're all OK?

Just nipped in to rave about a course/workshop that I attended today provided by a charity called Look Good, Feel Better.  They run afternoon workshops for women diagnosed with cancer that focus on skin care and make-up and it was absolutely wonderful.  Each attendee was given a goody bag of full sized premium skin care products and make up, plus a very lovely bottle of perfume and there were three professional make-up artists available for the dozen or so women who attended to show us how to use the products.  The make up artists gave up their own time to teach us and were just the most generous and supportive women. As always, it was also a pleasure to chat with the other attendees and compare notes.

Feeling a bit weepy actually as I'm so overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone involved.  If you can get to one of these sessions then I would, it's marvellous life-affirming stuff.  If you Google 'Look Good Geel Better' you'll be able to find them.

xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

I'm a teacher too Eileen, but primary, almost back to normal hours now but I only work 0.6 anyway! Was lovely to play badminton again, think I might try swimming soon as well! What is melodeon?

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

I have been off work since Feb Nebsminty so it will be a real shock to go back! I teach and since my classes were split between everyone else in the department it was simpler just to take the whole time off. And I'm head of dept as well so I've got all the stress of that which I decided I could do without for now.
Lake Garda sound lovely Kiki - and badminton too. I've been learning to play melodeon but decided not to for the time being as squeezing my poor sore boob didn't seem sensible! xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Thought I would poke my head in and say hi although I don't feel I've quite graduated to the recovery stage. I'm saving all my celebrations until November when I have my last herceptin.

Can't believe I've had over 5 weeks off work. I've a drs note covering me to the end of the month so I've got a few days longer before getting my head around going back. Whilst I'm looking forward to seeing colleagues again I quite like having time to myself. Oh well all good things have to come to an end!

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Thanks for your welcome everyone. Eileen, I'm off to Lake Garda in the summer, can't wait! First full day at work today as I'm building my hours back up on a phased return, feel shattered tonight! Going to try playing badminton tomorrow for first time since op, hope it doesn't make the fake boob too sore!

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi All Its good to be doing 'normal' activities & no hospital appointments. I've applied to attend a Moving Forward course in November.
AG65 - Happy 50 birthday, sounds like you are celebrating in style 🍸
Nenya - Glad you enjoyed your break away
Eileen728 - Well done your 10 mile walk
Kiki2 - Welcome I've been experiencing hot flushes, as I've stopped the HRT. Think I'll buy some Black Cohosh Has anyonse used this?
I've been a lady that lunches today, I met up with my Aqua friends. Back to work tomorrow xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Welcome Kiki! Where are you off too in the summer?
A: All your celebrations sound fun and just what you need. As you say - emotions and worries likely to go on but I am hoping they will fade in time. xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi All, I wasnt on your previous thread but I too have finished treatment apart from Tamoxifen which Im on for 5,years. So far just some hot flushes at night as side effects so can cope with that! Been sorting holidays for the summer, it's good to be able to look ahead again and plan! X

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

How nice to be on the next stage of the forum. Glad to hear you are all having a good time. I am in Harrogate at the moment celebrating my 50th birthday. Went to Thoresby Hall Hotel for Champagne Afternoon Tea to celebrate my wedding anniversary on Tuesday 20 years. So nice to be doing these normal things even if emotions are messing with you underneath. Start Tamoxifen tomorrow. Have decided it isn't going to get the better of me. Hugs to everyone xx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Hi Sunflower and Nenya - good to see you over on this thread and look forward to everyone joining us over here. Treatment all done - apart form tabs- and still no reaction so fingers crossed there won't be. Was the machine even working?
Anyway we are just back from 3 day break on North Norfolk coast which was lovely. Even managed a 10 mile walk - was determined to get to Holkham beach even if I had to crawl the last bit.
Next weekend off to the Peak District for more of the same - cottage just up the road from the pub so beer and eating out looks likely!
Love to you both - onwards and upwards xxx

Re: Sunshine After the Showers

Glad you have enjoyed your break 🙂 we have just had a week in the Yorkshire dales. Plenty of beer and eating out. Now trying to re-focus my brain on moving forward and not slipping back into lolling about on settee feeling sorry for myself and watching rubbish on telly! Xxx

Sunshine After the Showers

Hi All, I've started this thread for those on the April Showers thread who are ready to move over to the Recovering from treatment section of the forum. We are back from our Norwegian fiord cruise 🚢 We had a relaxing time, lots of fabulous views 🗻 & delicious food 🍝🍨🍛 apart from the day we were confined to our cabin because hubby was experiencing Nora Virus symptoms 😷 He was fine by the next day. I need to read through the posts on the April Showers to get up to speed on how everybody is doing. Catch up soon xx
