The saying: "You're never too old to learn something new".
I've never heard of a Winnebago until tonight and had to Google it. Wow!
Now I know what it is, I want one.......a luxury one, with a George Clooney lookalike to drive me to Paradise.
Wishing all those starting their rads tomorrow and in the near future.......good luck! It seems daunting looking at all the sessions at the start but once you get into the routine it becomes manageable.
As well as being eligible for free prescriptions, I wondered if any of you had heard about the Look Good Feel Better charity which runs workshops around the country to help ladies going through cancer.
I went to a workshop after finishing my radiotherapy to cheer myself up and meet other ladies in the same predicament.
I can recommend it. I met some lovely ladies. Plus, everyone gets a fabulous bag of cosmetics to use and take home. The makeup is donated by cosmetic companies including Estée Lauder, Clinique, Eco, Nivea and more. Here is the link if anyone's interested.
Yes i can rememb er seeing notices in hospital sayng free prescription for cancer paitents, i as an over 60 who did get the state pension at 60, sadly and wrongly one of the last, get mine free anyway, So glad thought they gave that to all pensioners, as someone with a s,mall priivate pension i get a bit fed up with reading "you will get this if on pension credit" Grrr .....i used to work sundays when i worked on directory enquiries to boost my pension, why couldnt all these people on pension credit have saved for a pension too.they had same chance as me.,i didnt have a partner, i had to support myself, Im sure some of them have money stashed away in kids or relatives names, so they can get pension credit. i heard a bloke at bus stop bragging other day he had done it, Makes me mad. I felt like challenging himlol .
Have let my parking space at my flat today, girl works in city so shes parking here and walking into work, so thats a bit of a little earner, ive never let it permanently before, people do it, then they get fed up with walk, but its only about 20 25 mins at most, and parking charges in Norwich like most cities cost an arm and leg. Hooe this one dosent get fed up.
Good to know, about the free prescriptions -- I had no idea... And yeah, with an indefinite leave to stay, I have the same rights of a British citizen (oh man, I still need to crack on with my naturalisation process...).
Indeed, June, you really have good friends. It's not nothing!
And yeah, I've been told that hair in that armpit will fall off, so, no need to shave!
Ladies, it's my turn to go to bed -- actually, I am going to have a bath, and test the Pitrok, even if indeed it doesn't inspire me much trust. Anyway, I don't smell, except if I am scared, in which case I reek to the high heavens. Maybe I was a skunk in a previous life. I need to not get scared, or no Pitrok will prevent the embarrassment.
nite nite xxx
yes i sometime expect too much from them i think but guess sometimes on own you do, But all in all i couldnt have got through my treatment without them, so cant complain , No that "friend" hardly said a thing about my cancer, i think 3 lines on fb saying sorry to hear about it was about it. I thought why bother,
I appear to have changed identity again!!!!!!
You apply again after 5 yrs and of course if your still on Tamoxifen then you will get another exemption card,I'm on them for 5 so far but I know they are trialling 10 years in my area so who knows, I'm never bloody paying for them that's for sure!!
Dont worry about Gorilla armpitslol , the one where i had nodes removed hardly seems to have any hairs on it at ll in fact it rarely neds shaving, Also i didnt like look of pitrock so used Santex. as again i seem hardly to perspire under that arm, I use Mitcham hugh strengh under the other as i still do there, So hope you will be as lucky,. Is this just me or how how were you Dee. Junexx
No you are not being unreasonable she shouldnt say things didnt mean. I know ive said recently some of my friends i now feel not as should be but i will say when i was going through my appointments 3 of them were great i never went through one appointment alone and my evenign rads one of them came with me every time, one works fuul time, one has a child and other works part time. the friend who works full time worked 2 sat morings so she could come with me to appointments initially and she told me other week, if i need her never think i cant contact her ever, Maybe ill look at mine differently now.
Thanks a lot Sheena xxxx
Sleep tight, and have nice dreams x
Night night ladies xxxx
Amaze! thank you UK! ❤️
Jill I thought it was for the whole term of treatment? If not we need to get out there and make some changes, how do folk afford it after 5years!,,,,,!
Free prescriptions? O_O
Sheena, thank you for the tip! (they sent me to buy the E45 instead...). I love Winnebagos! Wouldn't that be cool?
Jill, really, that would be awesome! We should found a charity whose purpose is bring single people to treatment appointments in style, siblinghood and mirth!
For the selfish friends, it's really very very common, a friend of mine who's a socialite with a bazillion connections was in the same plight recently and totally no-one acted on their previous offer for help (ok, I did, and it was quite fun as well, but I was the only one, and the help in question was really trivial, fetching a pair of goggles from a hospital night pharmacy). I mean, even the extremely well connected have these problems. Maybe people are really selfish.
Sheena, you're right, I should take time off. But as a consultant, a long time off means the boot, and anyway my contract ends in Sept (I think) and I plan to not look for another one for a few months. I'll see how it goes. Today I was bored out of my skull, I am beginning to care little: I don't like half of the clique there and I am beginning to lack the passion to defend my technical choices. Boss wants me to stay but I feel the mule of the situation and, if I can allow myself a little sexist rant, I am a bit fed up of cleaning up after a bunch of guys with more ego than coding sense. D'uh. On the other hand, I know that in another contract it would be the same if not worse. Oh, let me recuperate, and then next time I will sell myself so dear, oh, so dear...
Mael, the rads department gave me some tubes of Diprobase for free and more if I need. It's used for extreme sunburn, ask for a prescription and it is free x
Sheena, you're not being unreasonable nor selfish: you're right. Your friends sounds like a taker; sounds like my last sweetheart, or my cousin: "will do absolutely anything for you as long as it doesn't cost me anything". She sounds rather callous as well, unless she was having a really bad day for some reason, but you're right to rant.
Dee, thanks x
Jill, I admire your scientific approach, although to be completely definitive, you should have not known which armpit received what :*)
just a side note and a huge rant......... you know the friend, not your best friend, but someone who you took to the undertakers when her mum died and held her hand and was on the end of the phone in the middle of the night, yeah that one. Well I asked if she would be able to give me a lift to hospital on Friday on the way to work, it's a small 10 min detour for my appointment at 9.30 because my car is having an mot. Quelle suprise, response I got was, oh I was going to go into work later on Friday so it won't be any good for you! !
Ladies, am I being unreasonable, selfish? she sent me a card last week saying that if I need anything just ask
