Tamoxifen and bleeding

2 REPLIES 2

Re: Tamoxifen and bleeding

Hi Pennypig

I have only been on tamoxifen for 9 months. I had no bleeding at all for the first 6 months and since then have had light bleeding for a few days every 2/3 weeks. I didn't think anything of it as just assumed it was the tamoxifen still settling down in my system, but when I mentioned it in passing to my BCN she told me I must see my GP and get a two week referal to a gyneacologist as there is an increased risk of ovarian/endometrial cancer and endometriosis which would need to be ruled out with an ultrasound.

I saw the gyneacologist and the scans were clear - she told me she is amazed by the amount of women that she sees with abnormal bleeding while on tamoxifen, but it is always best to get it checked out.

Good luck

Tamoxifen and bleeding

Hi, I was diagnosed in 2008 at 34 years old. grade 2, IDC, HER 2 pos. er and pr pos. no spread to lymph nodes. I had full mastectomy and all lymph nodes removed chemo, rads herceptin/ lapatinib trial. Tamoxifen now for 6 years another 4 to go and over 2 years of zoladex injection which stopped about 6 months ago. I had a bleed about 2 months ago just a one off when I went the toilet and now today another one not that heavy but enough to wear towel. Is this normal. My onc has told me to stop taking tamoxifen in 2 weeks to see if anything changes and to see if I am in the menopause ( only 40 ) and if I am they may change tamoxifen. Just worried about the bleeding today 😟
