I’m 36 and have been on tamoxifen since June 2010. I had various side effects along the way but recently i’ve been experiencing extreme fatigue and I also seem to be having vision problems. My eyes are dry, teary at times, has lots of discharge especially in the mornings when i wake up. It’s also painful at times, cloudy at times a littl numb sometimes. I was wondering if anyone has problems like this?

I have been on the T since Dec 2012 so coming up for 6 months. My side effects do not include hot flushes or sweats - so far! But teary eyes in the first few months - yes - dry eyes now - yes - fatigue - yes! I am three months out of rads but still don’t have any get up and go, which I’m partly attributing to the T. GP did a range of bloods last month to check blood count, iron levels, kidneys and liver which I’m pleased to say we’re all fine. Might be worth having some bloods just to reassure yourself it is “just” the T.

Ahhhh just lost my post!!
I noticed that on the printed sheet of side effects in tamox box eye problems are mentioned, I know that blurred vision can be a product of taking tamox.
I have an eye condition uevitis and since taking tamox since Oct 2010 the condition comes on much more frequently than pre tamox.
When I have mentioned if there is a link between my eye condition and tamox my Eye specialist denies it.

Lisa, I just had a full blood test done, liver function, thyroid etc and it all look ok so I guess we can just blame it on the T. 
Jude, It’s such a pain when the specialist doesn’t believe us. 
I’ve had other side effects but they just insists that it’s not part of the side effects. I’ll be seeing an eye specialist soon so hopefully he’ll believe me.

Great news on your blood test results, really pleased for you. So yep, all the feeling dreadful is *just* the T…! 
My eyes are really itchy/scratchy today, and I’ve been getting gas and bloating. Not sure why now, hey ho, just the comings and goings of T I guess!
Give yourself hug and go with the flow. Rest if you’re tired and don’t push yourself too hard. There are plenty of other people to do that! :-/

Thanks! The blood test results was a relief! I get gas sometimes too so yes! Blame it on the T!! and yes, we just have to get used to the SE and manage it I guess.
I hope the gas and itchy eyes goes away soon!

Hi guys interesting post, my left eye over the last few months gets blurred and watery. I was diagnosed January 2012, had mastectomy and rads couldn’t do the chemo although I tried I was just so terrified. I was in tam for 6 months then they decided to change me to extremestane goodness knows why as I had another period, I’m back on tam the last two months and although I e been on it before im so tired not so much during the day but when i wake up, I’ve been an early bird for years 5 o’clock get up but I’m still in bed at 8, over the last month ,its just not like me at All, any ideas guys ? I’ve been on Tamoxifen for three years now. I also have bad fatigue and eye problems. When I went to my GP he said perhaps I needed new glasses! I have so many side effects and it is an uphill battle trying to get anyone to believe me about the Tamoxifen. Luckily my Optician did and I have been on eye drops for two and a half years.

I have been on tamoxifen for 1 year and a half and my I go to the eye doctor she tells me it’s my age. It’s not the fact that women who are on tamoxifen experience vision lost the first year.
They are ignoring the fact that my eyes have gotten 15% worse in a year.
I’m switching my eye doctors. I can ask for my medical files and take it to another doctor.

Hi Everyone,
It seems now that I have been on tamoxifen for more than a year all these new side effects are happening. My vision has gotten much worse, I am extremely tired. I can sleep all day at times and that’s with having coffee. Also, I have lost my appetite. Lost 50lbs. Which is good but I’m continuing to lose weight.
Does anyone feel that the longer you are on tamoxifen the more side effects will occur?
