I recently went to see my GP because my left boob has got much bigger over the last three weeks. She gave me a week of antibiotics, but my boob just got bigger! It’s about two cup sizes larger than the other now, and it’s not very comfortable so I went back for a follow up.
Saw a different GP, who wasn’t very thorough, asked me which breast concerned me, (erm perhaps the one that looks like a space hopper?), dismissed my concerns as ‘there’s no lump, so no cancer’. He grudgingly said he’d refer me but couldn’t refer urgently so I’d have to wait. I asked him what he thought it was, and he was a bit offhand and said ‘well I don’t know, this is why I’m referring you’.
That morning I got a call from the surgery to say I had an appointment with the breast specialist, which I felt quite relieved about - until I got a letter this morning to say that I have an appointment with the breast pain/male surgery department! I don’t have any real breast pain (just a feeling of pressure, heaviness and fullness in the left breast, and it does feel different to the right one) and and I am certainly not a bloke.
I feel utterly ignored by the GP and confused by the whole thing. I have no idea what this clinic is for or what will happen there. Has anyone else had this issue?
