Re: Terrified

Hi Lucy,

Its definitely not a death sentence. I had my first BC in 2002 and since then I've had it four times. I'm now 54, on first diagnosis I was 38. I'm TN, BRCA1 and presently in perfect health and see my Oncologist every 6 months. Stay positive and use your energy for the chemo, surgery and radio. Good Luck x

Re: Terrified

I have also just heard yesterday at my meeting with consultant that it's a triple negative grade 3 but early stage very small 19mm my diagnosis was last Wed but just found out yesterday the type they have told me that I'm on a curative treatment pathway starting with a seed implant tomorrow lumpectomy and node biopsy then chemo nd rads I'm totally shattered by news I had a total breakdown this morning I think it has just sank I the gravity of it all, don't know about the rest of you but I feel so anxious my chest hurts I just want to be strong for my family, so I have decided that I need to pull up my big girl knickers sent by everyone on here and fight this bitch I'm 45 and will still be around for many years to come, cancer is Not getting me I've got too much life left I me xxxx hugs to you all x

Re: Terrified

Hi Lucy - like you recently diagnosed Grade 3 Triole negative. I am having chemo first & have had 2 EC so far & third cycle next Thursday. Have had my ups & downs however determined to keep positive & any negative thoughts get locked in the box! I am sure you are strong as you have come this far, Success rates are so good these days & treatment is always improving.

Re: Terrified

Hi Lucy,
Welcome to the forum & sorry to see you here, but I hope you've had a chance to look at the other threads, such as going through treatment, where there are others at the same stage as you or a bit further down the road.
Inevitably, we all have dark thoughts at some point, but the vast majority of us do get through it & get on with our lives
I didn't have a TN diagnosis, but I was chatting to a colleague the other day who had just got the 5 year all clear having had a TN diagnosis with all the usual treatment. She looks great, is working full time & I never knew.
Sadly there will be a few who dont make it, but this is not usual & your situation is not theirs. Treatment is getting better all the time & please remember current statistics are based on those diagnosed 10-20 years ago. A lot has happened since then.
Even though it feels scary at times, there is no reason not to be positive
take care

Terrified

Hello,
I'm 37 and have stage 1, grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. I'm having chemo first, then surgery and finally radio. I've just had round 2 of chemo (EC) and was so sick - hopefully on the turn now. I can't get out of my negative spiral whereby I'm sure I'm strong enough to beat this cancer, but I'm terrified about it returning and becoming a death sentence. I'm desperate to see my children (8 and 5) grow up, get back to my job which I love (teaching) and grow old with my husband. Sadly, the statistics keep jumping out at me and I'm so worried that within 2 years, I'll be back with the oncologist with devastating news. If only we could predict the future! Is it a death sentence if it returns? Rio Ferdinand's wife and Lisa Lynch (the C word) both were triple negative. It's so scary! Xx
