Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Well cheers girls! A bit early in the day for the hard stuff so a cup of coffeee and a mince pie for me. Will hopefully pop back in later for something else to nibble and drink.

To be honest I think we overdid it yesterday, both feeling ill with this horrid virus but went on Santa delivery trail, left house at 10.30 didn't get home till about 7.30 and had hardly ant sleep last night. Definitely going to be a very quiet Christmas for us, thank goodness we have no-one coming! Haven't managed to bring tree in and decorate it so will have to make do with lots of candles.

Will pop in here to sit by the tree and will thgink of Chocolates shining tree for us.

Hope everyone has as good a Christmas as possible xxxx

Bottoms up!

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Good morning ladies. I am dropping in now for a quick sit by the fire with my breakfast and luckily I have DC all to myself 😉 He has kept it tidy and replenished everything. What a love. I hope to drop in later and will certainly check what time everyone is having a celebration together but if I don't manage to log on I wish all my friends here a very Happy and peaceful Christmas. By the way mine will be a Baileys on ice 🙂

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Oh I would rather stay here than brave the supermarket this afternoon.
My Dad is in his late 70's and since my Mum died I have taken to buying him food goodies for Christmas. Things he probably wouldn't treat himself to every day. OH has just lost half a temporary filling so just waiting for him to return from the dentist. Will just sit here awhile. 🙂

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

I've just popped in Chocolates. ...and left another bottle of Baileys just in case you run out....oh and I've stocked up with more ice cubes! Nite nite xxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Sleep well Chocolates, you have just left me with some lovely calming images to go to bed with. Thank you

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Peace and quiet - fantastic. I'm in the armchair again - with a baileys and one ice cube and the fire is roaring and the snow falling silently outside. There is so much food here now I don't know what to have - but a mince pie with some brandy butter has won. DC is here in the window seat - the light reflects his face well. He's going out to chop some more wood up which means just me and I'm so calm and peaceful. What an absolutely glorious room. It feels so safe and I can feel all of you here with me. I'm smiling as I think about all of us here together on Christmas eve - the noise and laughter will easily fill the room. It's going to be so very special.
Well it's time for me to leave. I've swept round with the broom and left another bottle of baileys - God forbid we run out!!! Dc has chopped enough wood for the next fortnight - how thoughtful and said he'll check in over the next couple of days to make sure the fire doesn't go out.
Sleep well everyone. Xxxxxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

This is a lovely thought Desi..

I had the xmas party made sure I was dosed up to the eyeballs, and partied until 2am from 6pm! Danced for almost half of it, and had a great time. Won rear of the year and best dressed!!! We had a great laugh! Having a really quiet day and getting the house back to order slowly. Tired, but so glad we went through with it.

Everyone was complimenting me on how amazing I am coping with everything. Little do they know!! There is the public and the private face as we all know. Nevertheless, it was a boost and a confidence builder!!

Going to do the last xmas shopping tomorrow-feet recovering really slowly..

Just about to watch the Apprentice final... really looking forward to it. Gallons of tea and a hot water bottle.

Christmassy hugs everyone.... look forward to our cyber Christmas Eve Party..

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Helen sorry to read your struggling to only just read your post on here from a few days ago xxx
Made some cinnamon and choc chip scones today yummy whilst still warm. Found watching text Santa quite uplifting last night despite some of the sad stories. Got a ginger cake on the oven hope it's nice and sticky oo now I fancy a snowball mm! Much love to everyone xxxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

A whole morning shopping ....phew! Sat on a chair near the Christmas tree with a lovely hot bowl of soup and crusty roll. May have a mince pie after. I bought a big bag of sweet clementines today and have left them in a bowl on the table. ...just missed you lemon drizzle ! Xx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

I'm popping in to sit by the fire and have a warm jammy croissant. Need peace and quiet as just opened a Christmas card from a friend I've not seen since this time last year who says she's heard I've had a health scare but pleased I'm on the mend. It doesn't take much to upset me so will sit quietly and ponder and then put on my happy face and carry on as normal just like we all do.

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Morning Belinda, well done for keeping the fire ticking over during the night and it's lovely to see it this morning in all its glory. Ooooohhh, you have tempted me with the choice for breakfast - decisions, decisions........
Have a lovely weekend everyone dropping in or busy out there getting the last few bits and pieces.
Nicky x

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Good morning all, crumpets, croissants, scrambled or boiled eggs or a full English breakfast all here, piping hot and ready, along with tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
Putting another log on the fire, looks a lovely wintry sunny morning out there....who built the snowman? I'm impressed.
Christmassy books and a selection of films on the shelves next to the biggest sofa. Pop in if Saturday gets a bit noisy or a bit too much today. X

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

You naughty girls!! I have polished off a half loaf of stollen whilst wrapping my on line deliveries today. Even my beautiful Working Cocker Archie got in on the act , took his opportunity and stole a slice - all I could see was him running out the kitchen as fast as his little legs could carry him with the cake clenched firmly between his teeth!! He stole a Tesco finest Mince Pie last night. So his Xmas is also going very well...

Going to put lights on tree finally.... just resting with a cup of tea, before i go again....

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Coming in to have a snuggle under one of those cosy throws and have a spiced coffee this morning. Finding it tough to keep the gremlins at bay too. Lovely meal with friends last night but hard when people start talking about what we and our kids will be like in 5/10 years time. I can't help but wonder... Kept me awake half the night. Might have a cheeky pain au chocolate too while I admiire the tree xxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

I'll join you too Kaye,i need a bit of cheering up.
I thought I was coping okay with Christmas but the last few days the gremlins are creeping into my mind and finding it difficult to cope.
So I'm having a lovely buttered crumpet and a cup of tea in the winter wonderland room to have a bit of a think and try to banish the gremlins .
Huge buttery hugs,Helen xxxxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

I love this room though I will have a nice cup of tea while I watch the snow .I am glad I dont have to go out in it as it is cold and wet and makes you fall on your bum . I will also light some candles one for my mum and one for my dad . My mum had bowel cancer my dad just faded slowly  after my mum died .Barton it is strange when you said about your mum and grandmother . My mum and mother-in-law both died on the same date though years apart .My maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather both died on the same very same day and we have just found out that my dad and his brother both died on the same date only 60 years apart .Three dates that I may just wrap myself in cottonwool and stay in bed !!! Good news though saw the onc today and everything looking okay so bone strengthening jab in 4 weeks and no onc for 8 weeks . Also made initial  start to see about getting my remaining boob off cann,t wait I,ll be able to have a pert small matching pair instead of one huge wrinkly one that is heading south .I've had huge boobs since I was in primary school and have always hated them bring on a small pair even if they will be knitted knockers !!!Wishing you all a good nights sleep .Vicky  xxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

I,ll join you all in a buttered crumpet and hot chocolate two of my favourites especially sitting round the xmas tree .love this time of year but finding it emotional this year .
Huge xmassay hugs all

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Yes, yes indeed, bring on the candles!  They can be so meaningful... remembering those who sadly are no longer with us, (I'll be lighting my real pink-and-black candle on 24th though might not make it to the online party). Even one small candle can shine brightly in a world, or a life, that can be dark as we all know.  ... especially any who have had difficult news recently.

This year, I've lit a candle almost every day since the clocks changed.  Each time I strike a match I am thankful that I can still do this safely!  Clinic earlier this week was a mixed bag of results (PET scan and bloods) but good news that I can stay on capecitabine for now.  It's my choice not to drink alcohol on my tablet weeks, I'll be week-on for Christmas but week-off for New Year... and someone else is cooking the Christmas dinner 🙂

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Hello everyone! Joining you in the party room. I have brought Christmas yummy nibbles (M&S). There are some truly lovely desserts too. Help yourselves. I'll have a crumpet and hot chocolate if I may. Mmmmm! Fantastic. Thanks to all for food, candles (I'll light one for my Mum if I may. She died of cancer, although not breast cancer, in January 2001, the exact same day as her mother, my grandmother- so perhaps will light 2 small ones if I may) tree and decorations. Dig in to the desserts everyone! They, too, are calorie free. Hugs to everyone. Barton.x

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Oh,Belinda,I can picture the room every time I come on this tread. I think I'll sit and watch the snow out the window while eating a no calorie crumpet and warm my hands on a no calorie hot chocolate.
Huge winter wonderland hugs,Helen xxxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Ah I thought our tree had a rather unusual pine smell it's Vick, well it's cleared my sinuses. 🙂 Hope these bugs are going to be banished by Christmas Eve, voices needed for sing song round the tree! Hot Chocolate by the low coffee table, crumpets too, fine for sore throats as lovely buttered and warm...no calorie counting allowed at Christmas! Love these faux fur throws very cosy, enough for everyone. The lighted candles look twinkly bright by the window and the winter light. X

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Lovely thought choc,I'll light one for my Dad . And for the cyber friends who are no longer with us.

Welcome cake lady ,sorry you are joining us but your very welcome.

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

I'm passing through on my way to bed. Just love it here - so quiet yet so understanding. Fires bit low tonight but it is milder so I'll let it be. I'm leaving some candles on the big wooden sideboard at the back of the room. I thought we could light them for people no longer with us. I've lit a couple, but feel free to light the others as you see fit. The matches are above on the shelf.
That's better - I'll sleep well now xxx

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

Morning Mowser, just catching up with your news I'm not surprised you haven't tackled Christmas much yet. Hope everything now begins to get easier for you. A comfy chair by our fire and rest up, get your strength back. I have done a lot more online shopping this year. 🙂 x

Re: The Secondary Christmas Drop in, Christmas Eve Party Thread.

You put me to shame!! I havent even got my tree yet, and only a few small presents bought online!!

Need to get a move on. With these feet need someone to wheel me around, preferably in my bed!!

Now make yourself comfy here, we even have FESTIVE flavoured Jelly Babies and Marshmallows! I could get a serious Jelly Baby habit Yum. Try the mulled wine flavour, delicious.
Will light some candles to flicker in the large window and the tree lights are all twinkly in that corner. Throws another cinnamon scented log on the fire.....
