You are invited to consider taking part in a research study sponsored by King’s College London, called ‘exploring women’s and clinicians views of early decongestive treatment for newly presenting breast cancer-related lymphoedema (BCRL) of the arm.

We wish to find out the views of up to 12 women with breast cancer about different forms of lymphoedema treatment. We are running discussion groups, called focus groups, to find out breast cancer patients’ views of the value of lymphoedema treatment and how acceptable it is, the potential burden of treatment and any barriers you see to women taking part in a future trial, and the best ways of assessing treatment benefit.

The focus groups will be held on Friday 21st and Monday 24th August at King’s College London, near Waterloo Station. The discussion group will last around 1½ hours, and you will need to only attend one group. We will repay your travel expenses to a maximum of £20 on receipt of relevant travel receipts. If you need to arrange additional child care in order to attend the focus group, we will be able to offer you £20 to help with this cost.

To take part in the discussion group you must have arm lymphoedema following breast cancer treatment, be able to understand and speak in English, and have finished your breast cancer treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or biological therapy, e.g. Herceptin) at least 3 months ago. If you are having hormone treatment (e.g. Tamoxifen) you can take part.
