Visiting Canada

The Canadian High Commission turned down our application to emigrate there because I’ve had breast cancer. I can just about understand that, but they’ve now refused to allow me even to visit the country, despite my telling them that my cancer makrers and liver function have been normal for the past year.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of awful treatment? I feel like a criminal, but my ‘crime’ is to have had breast cancer.

hi magic hands , i am disgusted at this ,i am not a traveller of the world but surely this is discrimination, they obviously have rules to follow for whatever reasons but to me it stinks surely they could not do this for someones colour or sexuality so why because you have an illness just beggars belief,… really dont think i would want to visit a country with that attitude … take care xxx

You can enter Canada for up to three months without a visa.
As to Canadian immigration laws, my daughter is trying to get a visa to work in Canada for 12 months and one of the questions on the application form asks if you or a member of your immediate family has a serious illness. She is concerned that my cancer will stop her getting this one year working visa. The Canadians have a health care system similiar to our own and I guess the restrictions are there to stop abuse of the system.
Have you considered using an immigration lawyer? I have heard of someone with Crohn’s disease who was turned down initally for immigration but used a specialist lawyer and got in eventually after 4 years. It was expensive mind you, about 10,000 Canadian.
