And sorry Sarah but make sure you explain that you are thinking of retiring due to your ill health. It doesn't matter what age you are for this but it is different to simply resigning or retiring so be clear that this is an ill health retirement not due to age but due to your ill health.
Hi Sarah, have you spoken to your HR Department if your company has one? Speak to them and explain that you would really like (or are thinking about) medically retiring on the grounds of your ill health but want your life assurance to continue and can't afford to leave without that being confirmed. Is the life assurance through your pension? If so speak to an independent financial advisor who specialises in pensions and see what they can suggest. Finally, get anything they agree in writing. It doesn't matter if it is an email but you need HR or your manager to confirm that if you leave you life assurance will continue and then your loved ones can use that as evidence in case there are any problems in the future. Your company may be willing to help you in this regard especially if you say that you can't leave without it. I know it sounds mean but they may see that as their preferred option as it may cost less in sickness benefits from them. I hope that helps.

Hi, haven't watched the programme yet but I got a call from Legal and General this week rejecting my claim, turns out I'm not I'll enough yet, I am to call them when things 'change'. Wanted to do some cool things with the kids then invest the rest for them (6 and 2 years old).
Legal and general say I'm not dying fast enough! I would like to use the money to make the time I have left with my son as easy (financially) as possible.ethel x
