I think all the tendons and nerves around the armpit take quite a while to fully settle down.
I have a bit of 'cording' (tight tendon) so hope to see a physiotherapist on Monday.
With regards to feeling sticky even though the skin is clean it might be a wierd sensation from the nerves having been cut or bashed about a bit. I had 8 nodes removed 22 years ago and my underarm (right side) had a numb/pins & needles feeling for years. Not uncomfortable, just weird. I've just had SN removed from my left side and after 3+ weeks I seem to have full feeling back.
But I've also noticed another symptom of the SN surgery in that after ( gentle! 😉 ) excercise my right armpit smells clean sweaty but my left armpit smells like something has died under there!
Nail varnish remover is good!!! And the blood taking nurse (phlebotomist?) gave me some of the things they use to clean your arm, which worked well and are a bit gentler.
So pleased to find this thread and that I'm not the only one hose underarm feels very sore.
Did anyone else use anything other than surgical spirit to clean the sticky feeling off ... soap water etc don't seem to do the trick.
Glad you had good news Nenya.
Elaine - I hope your results are also good

Brilliant news Nenya 🙂 Hope some of the swelling and weird sensations are starting to calm down a bit now (took 3.5 weeks for my axillary bit to stop 'twanging' but it does eventually!)

Hi Nenya
I really understand how you are feeling - the pain and discomfort, and the waiting. Someone recommended Germolene for the irritated feeling on the arm - not on the scar. This works for me for a while - might be worth trying.
I also feel a fraud - especially still being signed off from work when I don't feel ill - but I think we have to accept that this is a difficult and painful (in every sense of the word) journey. Yes, some people face 'worse' things, but that doesn't mean that you don't have the right to feel pain, worry, fear, anger..........You are not a wuss!
I hope your results are good.
