Sorry I can't help much here, because I took sick leave from work for my mastectomy, and just went on to half pay for a little while before I went back to work.
However, I'm sure others will be along who'll be able to answer your questions, but my reason for posting here is just to remind you that you'll be able to get free prescriptions, if you arent already doing so. Yor doctor will be able to give you a form signed by them, that you just send off in order to get a prescription exemption card.
