What made me happy today

Re: What made me happy today

Butterfly, know what you mean. My wee mother is 89 and way down the dementia road. Went in to see her today in the care home and she's lying happy as Larry with her legs over the cot sides, clapping away to Daniel O'Donnel. Chocolate and banana smoothie made her happy which made me happy.

Re: What made me happy today

I went to see my 92-year-old mother today who had a partial hip replacement yesterday. She is fine, thankfully. My wee sister died last month and I am not telling Mum because I think it will distress her: she also doesn't know abour my BC. She was very cheerful although, as ever, totally confused. My mind was set at rest.

Haven't posted on BCC for a very long time and came on tonight to post on the 2 years on thread.

So what made me happy today..................to see that choco muffins thread is alive and kicking, to have been able to share the joy of the friendships that are created despite this **** disease.
Thanks CM

No kids at home tonight, so hubby and I had a lovely dinner in a gastropub in an Oxfordshire village. Beautiful food and a some time to have a good chat together. Lovely Friday night

The feeling today that I'M in charge of my new car and that I will tell IT what to do instead of the other way round.
It's very different, only had it a week, but I know I've got it tamed now.

WMMHT Car passed it's MOT today, and while it was at the car clinic, I bought myself 2 pairs of jeans (on offer) in the size I've always taken - so a 2-fingered salute to Tamoxifen weight gain! (It's clearly all around my middle and not in the jean department!) 🙂

WMMHT- MRI scan and CT scans show no progressions of the hip mets. They even show signs of healing! Hoorray!
Herceptin might resume next week!
And the sun is shinning.

WMMHT- breakfast in the garden... card from my son (unheard of!)... and, a year on, being able to pick currants and make jam without "thinking" about it (in terms of energy)...

The sun is shining, the sky is blue and I had my breakfast, in my nightie, in the garden, reading Julie Walter's Autiobiography on the first day of my holiday. Bliss.

I went to the park yesterday and there were 6 baby chicks huddled under their mother. All you could see were 6 little yellow bottoms sticking out. Soooo cute!

Re: What made me happy today

Congratulations Grandma Dawn! I hope the twins do well. It must have been a bit of a shock them arriving so early.

ChoccieMuffin - I must admit to being relieved on your behalf at your decision. I don't know you personally, but from your posts I sensed the job was a strain on top of everything else, especially with the long commute. I hope you find something soon that IS a good match with less stress and hassle! I am glad you are happy with your decision. Good Luck.

WMMHT: OH asking if I want to go out for lunch tomorrow, as it is my last day off in term time (I sooo hope I'm not tempting fate here! ). My phased return ends and I'm back to full time next week - (and ahem! then 6 weeks off for summer holiday)

I am cheating a bit because we have passed midnight but wmmht was seeing our two very new grandchildren for the first time. They were born on Saturday, entering this big world long before they should at 28wks 4days. They are so breathtakingly beautiful, tiny and perfect. I couldn't take my eyes off them.

WMMHT: I have reached a decision. I have decided that I really am not a good match for the job I started a couple of months ago, so I have written my letter of resignation and will post it tomorrow, and I feel SO much better for getting to what, for me, is the right conclusion.

I am so happy because I am arranging a fund raising event for Macmillan Cancer Support & The White House, Cancer Support Dudley and I am getting loads of support from people. My faith in human nature has definately been restored. Something else that made me happy (and it might make some of us cross if you have pets) is seeing my dog snuggled up on top of a clean pile of ironing. She looked sooooo cute!

Re: What made me happy today

Today, i logged onto my Happy Bag site and saw I had passed the £1500 mark in just one month.

That made me very happy and smiley. Little old me, has raised all that for Cancer Research by making and selling my little Happy Bags.

Please do message me if you want to know more about them

Re: What made me happy today

JCJ, your real nerves about a virtual panto definitely made me smile today, you daft old thing, you! But only a fellow benchlander can understand how you could be feeling nerves.

WMMHT is that I've been very productive and have almost finished mowing my garden. I won't call it a lawn, it's definitely more like a meadow. Just got to go and finish off, but wanted a break and a sit-down for a while. Oh well, nose back to the grindstone.

Re: What made me happy today

The Benchland panto is making me happy. The fact that I woke up today with stage fright about tonight's virtual performance made me laugh out loud at myself!

Also, my daughter is coming for the weekend. She always makes me happy. (And she can come and see the panto tonight! :))

Re: What made me happy today

Meeting up with a friend for lunch today made me smile. My life is nearly back to how it was before I was diagnosed 13 months ago and that makes me smile every day. Running my fingers through my hair makes me smile.

Re: What made me happy today

Oh well okay then

A visit from close friends who live 200 miles away made me happy today.

My tubs of pansies have smiley faces at last, they needed the sunshine and their happy faces made me happy.

Now this one's sad, but finding some enthusiasm to tackle my mountain of ironing made me happy today even though the mountain is still there, but it's a little lower! Maybe tomorrow I'll knock the da*ned mountain down, then again, maybe not!

My dau who lives in the south (I'm in the north) rang and our conversation made me happy, she always has lotss of funny stories to tell.

Noooo, libsue, I didn't mean it like that?! I was wondering if I'd missed someone else with the initials CM who'd had an op! Come back! Tell us what made you happy today! Really, we could all do with a bit of something to make us happy.

Ok, thought of something. The weather's very nice today. That's a good thing.

' Which CM would that be? I haven't had an op for a long long time.'

I'm still trying to get my head round this new site. I had read #1 written ages ago and was responding to that.

Think I'll bow out of this thread now. I meant well.

Re: What made me happy today

Today I met up with Happy Cat who I first met here on BCC, we spent a lovely couple of hours chatting. Happy Cat is a wonderful lady and made me feel happy.

Also, Italy winning the footall match against Germany made me happy as my husband is Italian. My daughter came round to watch the match and her company made me happy.

I'm sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery from your op, CM. Hope you feel comfortable soon.

Re: What made me happy today

The sun has come out after the rain and everything looks clean and fresh. Washing soaked though because I took the risk and pegged it out just before the heavy shower - I thought it was windy enough to blow the clouds over...... WRONG! 🙂

Planned phased return to work with VERY supportive head and learning I will still be on full pay, despite only doing 2 days the first week, then 3 days for 2 weeks, then 4, then full time for last 2 weeks before summer holiday - but only if I can manage it!

The children were literally jumping up and down with excitement to see me. I have been missed! 🙂

Re: What made me happy today

Glad to hear it squeaky! 🙂 You are not going to want to go back when treatment finishes! But I bet those colleagues doing the time-critical and stressful things will be VERY glad to see you! Don't overwork! Take time to recover both physically and emotionally!
Today I have mostly... enjoyed not having to trek to the hospital to get my boobs out for total strangers! 🙂

Re: What made me happy today

My employers have been fantastically supportive since my diagnosis. I am planning to continue working from home during treatment if I can, but they have assigned all the bits of my job that were stressful or had tight deadlines to other people.

This means I have got my life back! I am no longer working crazy hours and can spend evenings doing stuff that normal people do, like spending quality time with my loved ones, watching TV, going for walks, reading etc!

Re: What made me happy today

As I was walking to my car at the hospital, after my last Rads, my daughter texted to say she's got the job she interviewed for last Thurs and really wanted. She heard today, as she was attending a 2nd interview for another job that she didn't really want because the commute was awful.

She's relocated to Norwich, from Preston, and moved into her new rented flat last Wed, so it's a huge relief she has found a good job so quickly, (not least because I was guarantor for the flat!!)

So, a fairly momentous day all round!

WMMHT - reading through the thread to find where I'd last got to, and re-reading SGL's post again. Laughed out loud. Then re-read it again, and laughed out loud again. Still sniggering. Am I mean?

And knowing that nobody at work knows about my close contact with cancer. Starting a new job can be a good thing.

Didn't make me happy but did make me laugh: REACT trial nurse insisted I needed a pregnancy test! It really would be an immaculate conception as OH had op 23 years ago and even if not....... under present circumstances.....! 🙂
