Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hello!

I've got my mammogram results today, it has been reported as normal and there is no further follow up needed. Happy, but in the other hand I don't understand how they are not investigating further.

The lump/s are still there and now I have a slight dimple on the worrysome left brest and also my left armpit become puffy and different from the other one so still worried.

Is it a right thing to go back to my GP and ask for ultrasound and biopsy or do I have to contact my consultant instead? Which is the best way? I don't want to be brushed off. Can they refuse my request?

Thanks for any reply. x

Hi juliegal1!

Thanks for reply, it really helps!

I am so happy that people care on this forum, even though you have gone through already some of the worst and having to wait again for your own results. It must be awful. Now that you over your op, probably in pain and in emotional rollercoaster you are still giving me comfort and I really appreciate that! I wish i can help you back. Hope days will go fast and you will know what's next.

Wishing you the outcome you are hoping for!! xx

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi keeks!

Thank you for replying.

Great idea - i'm sure i won't go without my list to any appointment anymore. I have to see my GP on Thursday about my cyst in my ovaries too which i think might be in connection with my lumps in my breast. You know what it's like, you imagine the worst case cenarios and diagnose yourself... Also worried that they will not see a thing on my mammo and they will not investigate any further. I would rather have an ultrasound scan too and biopsy just to make sure that there's nothing going on. Hope i will not have to fight for these two method.

Everyone here seems to understand the waiting is sucks the life out of us for a while.

I found you have replied so many posts and in my case you and everyone who replied to me really helped!

Reading your posts i understand you have gone through a lot like many other ladies on this forum. I don't know how can you stay so strong, but keep up and wishing you a full recovery!

Thanks again! x

Hi 1stfear
I had a routine mammo at mobile clinic then a letter for further investigation at hosp came 12 days later. ultrasound + biopsy then wait of 7 days to be told the news. WLE +SLNB 21 days later and now waiting for results 16 days after surgery. The waiting is the worst!!
Best of luck x

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi 1stfear.

I am sorry I can't answer your questions about the hospital but I completely get your frustration at walking out without asking the questions.

you decide in advance what you really want to know but when you are at your appointment it just goes.  It's the only time I could say my fight or flight response was so strong. For me I had to keep it together just stay in the seat and not run out the door. Write down your questions for your next appointment.  Check your list before you leave,

if they said you will get your results in two weeks then you should get them then. I think everyone who looks after us knows the terror we all feel waiting.

fingers crossed for you

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hello, just a quick update in case anyone following this thread...

I had my mammogram done yesterday and everything went so fast and i found myself back in the car realising that I DID NOT( !!!!!!!!!!!) ask the mammographer wether she saw anythig suspicious. I don't know what made me to leave the room whitout asking my well rehearsed questions. I also wanted to ask if i could look at the images... AAArgh, I'm so angry! That's it, waiting again with no clue. All I know that where I had the most scariest lump I could feel somewhat pain and could feel the shape of it under the plates of the mammogram.

I didn't get to seen in a breast clinic, it was happening in a hospital. I know to get the results will take about 2weeks, but does it work in reality? Did anyone get their results back in this 2weeks timeframe who was seen at a hospital, not at a breast clinic?

Thanks to anyone would reply.

Hi howesl!

Sorry to hear that you are so worried, I wish I have a great answer for you. Look up symptoms and signs of benign breast conditions. I've read them and it slightly calmed me down.

Any date for your appointment yet?

Take care x x.

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hello i am in the same situation as you. A few times i woke up and found that i had had liquid seep from my nipple in the night and my breass were quiee sore.It has been 2 and a half years since i breast fed my son so surely the milk has dried up. Then i started to have itchy breasts and then my nipple was stinging really bad so much that i thought it might be bleeding. But i began to worry and so when i got home i checked and looked up how to self examine. After self examination i found a rather large lump which was "grape" sized but really hard in the top of my left breast, the glads in my armpit also feel swollen. I am waiing for an appointment but ever since i found the lump ive felt sick and ive not been able to sleep much. Is there any possibilty that it could be something other than cancer?

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi KESS and ANGIE!

Thanks for replies again.

My appointment is on the 29th May. I have seen my GP on the 7th April and she said she is refering me to a breast clinic. It wasn't the case, a specialist checked me only "manualy" at a hospital 25days later. ( Worried to sick before hand and couldn't believe that i am actually not being seen at a breast clinic at all on that day!!! More waiting then.) The specialist has now referred me to a hospital for a mammo, though she also said she will refer to a breast clinic... So there is a long wait ( 56sleeps) till i will get to seen by a radiologist.

Sorry for coming here to moan. I am a full time mum ( mum of 4), no friends, I am from abroad so no family either near me to talk to, husband doesn't take me seriously...

Thanks for both of your replies! x x

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi Angie55!

Thank you very much for your reply (i think you might addressed it to me, not to Kess -hope i'm right).

I am sorry that you had to go through such a hard time - I imagine . No, let me rather say that I can not imagine , I have no idea how much emotional and physical pain you have gone through, simular to many women on this forum. All my respect to you as still, you are the ones are comforting most newcomers like me!

Reading the few answers some of you kind ladies has sent to me makes me feel human again. Knowing that people out there, who does not know me still care and able to reassure me is a very comforting feeling. I made a right decision to register here and stop sharing every symptoms and worries with my husband who thinks(?) i am a hypohondriac...

Thank you again xx.

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi Kess

Everyone is different on their journey with cancer. I did not have a lump but something showed up on my mammogram. I could not feel it and the surgeon couldnt either. It was approx 8mm and a Grade 3 cancer. It was removed with clear margins and the total they took away was 13mm, no spread to lymph nodes. My treatment was surgery, 5 years of Anastrozole and Radiotherapy. I have now completed the radiotherapy with not to many problems. The worst thing you can do is google you are much better to come on the forum and ask questions. Someone on here will have the answer as most ladies have been through similar fears.

Try to stay positive and take one day at a time, some days will be better than others. Keep posting to let us know how you are getting on.

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi Kess!

Thank you for your reply. Yeah, unfortunately there isn't one particular sign that we could rely on ...

What I really meant in my post that if there is anyone who had lumps before diagnosis of BC of any kind, so I can compare my problem with theirs as I am fearing the worst with my little hard embedded lumps. My appointment is in 20 days so pretty much working my mind too much.

Hope you well, wishing you all the best and thank you again! XX

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi Blue23!

Thank you for letting me know a little bit of your experience. Before luluspice and you I've never heard lumps to appear over night, it must have freaked you out straight away.

I don't know your history but I wish you well and all the best.

Thanks for taking time up to reply. XX

My appointment is in 20days and you probably know how my mind works at the moment...

Thanks a lot and all the best! XX

I didn't have a lump at all. Not all breast cancer presents that way so any unusual breast symptoms people should get checked out.

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Mine was the same, felt like a firm marble rolling around and I can say it definitely appeared overnight as like luluspice its where i wash every day in the shower and would have noticed it beforehand. Was amazed at how it just appeared so quickly but have heard a few people say this now.

Re: What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hi there,

My 'lump' was like a large grape rolling under a table cloth. in my armpit. I swear it appeared overnight, I showered morn & night, and I am sure i would have noticed it before!  Weird description i know, but at first I thought it was bone as I had lost a bit of weight -  put that down to stress - now I wonder? I hope your appointment comes in quickly and the news is good.

What was your lump felt like before diagnosis?

Hello, I'm new to the forum but I read most of the threads to find answers to my questions for a month now. Still full of questions. During this time I've found the most polite, caring and helpful community here, on this forum, compering to other websites.

This is my first post, hope it will go to the right place...

Can you please, describe the lump/lumps or mass you have found BEFORE diagnosed with BC?

Read many times that GP or consultant didn't think there was anything sinister but later turnd out to be cancer. Just want to put my mind at ease as I've found hard, non mobile, tiny peasize lumps in both of my breasts. GP and specialist after phisical examinations said nothing to worry about but referred me and I am waiting to be seen at a breast clinic.

Thank you to any reply in advance.
