Re: When can I shower after op?

I just kept scrubbing away, 2 or 3 separate washes each time, I was distraught lol I could cope with wonky scarred boobs but not BO. I then started researching online about 3 am, as you do and found others had experienced the same issue. I just wish the professionals would warn us about such issues. X

Re: When can I shower after op?

Good point Kentstar re cold setting as my underarm is really numb, thanks x

I did get a whiff of BO after the shower but put did down to not necessarily having had done a thorough scrub. Didn't realise the sweat glands might be impacted but it makes totally sense given the extent of the surgery. Hubby wasn't too keen tho when I mentioned to him that it might last as few weeks... at least I don't need to suffer alone 🙂 xx

Re: When can I shower after op?

Just a warning, I was told by staff nurse in hospital to use cold setting only on hairdryer as area can be numb and could easily burn skin. X also re stinky, a few of us had that awful BO smell even after a shower after lymph node surgery. IMHO I think the sweat glands may get disturbed. The good news is it does go away after a few weeks. X

Re: When can I shower after op?

I really like the hair dryer tip Boa, thanks!

Well, I took the plunge and had a shower earlier and it was pure bliss 🙂 ahh....
Lumpectomy wound was ok but I had to be really careful with the node removal one in the armpit altho it was the most offending part.

ps. BCN came back afterwards saying provided the wounds are dry I can have one on Monday... too late 😉

Re: When can I shower after op?

I showered the next day after lumpectomy. I presume the dressings are waterproof. Just don't use soap or shower gel over affected area and have that area under shower only very briefly. Another tip is to dry the affected area quickly using a hair dryer!

Re: When can I shower after op?

I've tried wet wipes jillybee but they are just not doing the job after a week.
I've texted my BCN but not sure she'll get back to me over the weekend. Just noticed the tape over the incision is coming off on its own so I might just take the plunge have a shower to feel human again

Re: When can I shower after op?

hi Sarah. I'll see what I can do with cling film, thanks for the tip.

I think I can get the breast area wrapped but the nodes surgery is right in the armpit... Looks like hubby needs to go and explore - I bet he's not looking forward to that well without a gas mask that is! xx

Re: When can I shower after op?

Hi here xxx I showered after my mx on day four when I got home - my bCN just said to wrap cling film around me which I did and it worked a treat - I avoided underarms I. Shower though and used a gentle flannel on these after I had dried everywhere - but I Am bilateral mx so not sure if different for lumpectomy x. Hope u have a restful day - Chinese sounds nice! Sarah

When can I shower after op?

Good morning ladies, another sleepless night here... although this time I think the Chinese dinner last night has something to do with it too.

Anyway, my question is how long do I need to wait after the op (lumpectomy + full nodes removal) to have a shower as the bad BO is really getting to me?

Had my op now 8 days ago but not seeing consultant for post-op check up until Tuesday and not sure I can take the BO another 3 days. Wet wipes help but I really crave for a proper shower and wash Smiley Frustrated x
