Hi Kathy and Terry
Fairly new on postings. I read all that has been happening to Kathy. What a fighting spirit. Obviously, your love is keeping you together. Enjoy the beach. I too shall add you on my prayer list. Please give a hug to each other for me.
Hi Terry, just to say I hope you and Kathy get to the beach. I hope Kathy is more comfortable now. My thoughts are with you both, love and hugs Pat x
Trust me ( and Kathy ) if we can get to the beach this weekend we will be there, and yes please keep Kathy included in your prayers.
I must be the eternal optimist!! i am still holding out hope that kathy will get strong enough for her trip to the beach. I was brought up a catholic - my mother goes to mass every day! - however i was never a regular attender - having said that i still pray to padre pio (as the whole of ireland swear by him!) I always include kathy and now dippy kate in my prayer - i know its clutching at straws but in the absence of being able to offer any practical help to ye its as much as i can do. I hope now that the acities have been drained that kathy is more comfortable - if they stay at bay for a while maybe she will get to the beach? - (i did tell you i am the eternal optimist - and why not?)
You 2 take care - send her my very best wishes
Kathy is OK, still with us, the ascetis is getting worse again, they have just drained another 2 1/2 liters off her an hour ago.
She is not eating enough and getting very thin, but at least no more bleeding for now.
If anyone is allowed be a little tired its Kathy after what she has been thro - but maybe next week - keep up the plans x
And i agree there is nothing like driving with the roof down - especially with the weather you guys get
That sounds lovely anyway Terry - glad you had what sounds like a lovely weekend and hope Kathy is feeling as well and comfortable as possible under the circumstances.
I am afraid we did not make the beach as Kathy was too tired, however we managed a drive in the sun with the hood down.
Terry, it is so good to hear this. I hope the weather hold out for your escape to the beach. It will be lovely to inhale the glorious sea air, charged with all the negative ions, I alwasys find it invigorating. Enjoy...
Really pleased to hear that you and Kathy have a bit more time together, Terry. Hope you get to the beach and can add to your ban of happy memories.
Thats great news terry
I admire kathy so much - what a fighter! again have a great day at the beach. I had a weekend in the west of ireland - it snowed and hailed - thankfully brought the thermals as have much experience of volatility of irish weather:-) great time but am very envious of the 25 deg C you are having - but at the same time delighted you can get to the beach
Lovely to hear from you both. Enjoy your trip to the beach, it always helps my spirit lift when we do our Saturday walk in St Ives. Much shorter walk than it once was, but a walk all the same.
Everything crossed for you both that you share many more happy days together.
Love Debs and Ianxxx
I'm so pleased to read that Kathy has rallied again. While she is still doing so well, I hope you get to enjoy the beach and more. 25°? Medicine for the soul.
Sorry for not keeping up to date. I am pleased to say Kathy is still with us.
They discharged her from hospital but with warning that they could do nothing to get her platelets up to normal levels and that she could bleed again at any time, if it was a large bleed they would let her go.
I put those small airhorns all opver the house ( it is a big house !! ) so that if she suddenly started to bleed she could sound a horn and we could rush to her,so far no more problems.
When she left hospital the doctora ( (a) is a female doctor here a male doctor is a medico )took her brother and myself to one side for a chat and said even is she did not bleed again time was short, she said it could be one month ( already passed nearly ) or two or even three.
Yesterday we went back to the doctora and she said her blood was a bit better and she might not bleed again as she has gastric bands in her esophagus which hold the main veins in place. She offered more weak chemo which Kathy accepted and we are hoping this does not start the bleeding again.
It is very much living on a knife edge now, wondering hour by hour if the bleeding will start again, but knowing each day she is getting weaker as well.
However Kathy remains incredibly positive and strong, we might even go the beach this weekend ( sorry but the temerature is over 25dg now )
Love to all
just wondering how you are doing? how's everything going? have been thinking about both of you loads
Hello Terry my heart goes out to you and kathy,my love and prayers to you both in this difficult time
Thanks again terry for the update - it really sounds like the docs there are doing everything they can to reverse this crisis - stay strong and do get some rest for yourself while kathy is stable and holding her own
Heavens Terry, it oes sound reall difficult, I'm glad your wife is stable, and i hope you are able to get some rest and look after yourself during this period.
I wish you both well
so sorry - what a worrying time for you all. I hope Kathy is comfortable and that you are all getting support.
thank you so much for keeping us up to date. Thinking of you all at this crucial time.
Hello Terry, you don't know me. I haven't posted on this thread before. But I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and that I am so grateful to you for keeping us updated about Kathy. I do hope that her medical team manage to keep her comfortable while you both go through this sad time.
They have managed to stop the internal bleeding but her platelets are at 18,000, they were down to 9000 per mlltr normal people have between 350,000 and 500,000.
Shis is still on the critical list but while she is not bleeding she is at least stable. One hell of a roller coaster at the moment.
haven't been here in a while - i am so sorry to hear about kathys latest situation. i will say a prayer for you both tonight
Hi to you Terry and Kathy, love and best wishes to you both and all your family, our thoughts are with you junieliz x
Just to say Ian and I are thinking of you all at this sad time. I put a post on the prayer part of the forum so I am fully confident that the women on there will doing their best for you both. I know the medical team will be doing their best as well. Words are not much use at times like this so will send you both our best wishes.
I don't think anyone can say anything to alleviate what you are all going through right now. But it sounds as though you've been really supportive of Kathy, and I know that I will hope for such support from my husband when it's my time. I am sure it's meant a great deal to her.
I hope that she is as comfortable as possible and that you are all able to make the most of the time that you have left together.
Thank you for all your kind comments.
Just an update. We ( myself, Kathy´s mother and brother ) had an hour with her doctor yesterday.
She has Esophageal Varices which is quite rare. It means that her liver has grown so much it has broken some of the small viens in her Esophagus. The long and the short of it is even though they have now given her 11 units of blood she is still bleeding internally and they cannot stop it and her platelets are too low.
They expect one of the major vessels to go and that will be the end but they do not have any time scale. She remains her normal cheeful self and is busy writing cards for the future.
It is so heartbreaking to read your post. I can't imagine what it must be like for you, Terry. I'm glad that your family has made it over to be with you both. I hope that Kathy remains comfortable and pain free. Thinking of you...
So sorry to read this. Kathy and I have been on the same journey for a while now and I have really appreciated the help and support you have given me.
I hope Kathy remains painfree and am pleased that all your family are there with you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time
Terry - I am so sorry to read this and glad that you and kathy are together and that she is without pain.
I'm very sorry to hear that the end is near for Kathy. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I wish you both peace and comfort.
I'm so sorry to read of Kathy's downturn. I wish you both peace and happy memories during the coming days.
She is in hospital now and most of her family are here. She has had seven units of blood and something to stop the bleeding. No pain and quite calm.
We had a long talk last night and she knows this is he end.
Her liver is pressing on her osophegus ( spelling ) and is causing the small blood vessels to break, nothing they can do now but make her comfortable, we are taking it in shifts to be with her.
so sorry to hear this latest news. am praying for you both and hope Kathy is comfortable.
All my love
