Just noticed the replies on here, why dont you pop over to chemo threads, april 14. Feeling very rough today day 3 of tac, but keep reminding myself of the job its doing xxxx
Ps mummycrow, how are you....my treatment is at Doncaster xx
I am due to begin my chemo on April 29th. I am still awaiting my HER2 result, plus I am having a bone scan on 24th and a portacath fitted on 25th. I had a lumpectomy for an 8mm lesion, and also had 11 lymph nodes removed, 10 of which were affected, hence the reason for chemo.
I had an arm drain in for 8 days and they opted to remove it then but havent yet had to have more drained out, although 19 days onf rom surgery my arm and breast are still sore.
I am also going to try the cold cap and also purchased all the recommended items such as moisturizer to use before cap goes on, bonjela and mouthwash, senokot, skin moisturizer etc.
Still getting to grips with chemo threads etc, xx Ruth xx
Im going to try the cold cap mummycrow, ill try anything!! I've decided if I dont like it or feel its not working I can stop at anytime. Hope your feeling a bit better today xx
I am also HER2 positive and will be going on herceptin for a yr. It is going to start half way through my chemo treatment. Like loulou1262 says - we are lucky to have this drug available to us as it specifically targets the HER2 protein in the cancer and stops it from growing so fast. Yes you are right - there are a lot worse off people in the world! You only have to watch Sport Relief to realise how lucky we all are to have diagnosis and treatments readily available to us!x
No its not lymphoedema (i thought it was too!) its called serenoma? It is a build up of fluid, apparently nothing to worry about but have had it drained 3 times since my surgery 3wks ago and my bc nurse says it will need doing again. The least of my worries really! But it is just holding up my chemo beginning along with the fertility options (which is really important to me) but everything seems to be taking time! Do you have a date for your chemo to begin?x
The HER positive just means you will probably have herceptin. This I believe is administered with chemo, I think it means your treatment may last a bit longer. Im sure that my bcn said it was the wonder drug that use to be a postcode lottery until around 2005 but then became available to everyone. Bcn said it was around the time Kylie Minogue was being treated as she also used herceptin. If its good enough for Kylie eh !!! Lol xx
I am worried as well mummycrow but just want to crack on now, we can help each other through the hardtimes. Since my full results have been given too me, I have accepted it a bit more, now I know what i am dealing with, does that make sense?? Have you your results from the clearance ??
Is that Lymphedema you have in your arm EAM 28? Hope all goes well with your appointment with fertility specialist
I have been pencilled in to start chemo on the 1st of April! But due to see oncologist next thur on final decision as waiting on appointment with fertility specialist and my arm to stop filling up with fluid since surgery! I will look on the chemo threads to get tips and what to expect. Thank you! x
Im due to start chemo in april, I have started a thread on the( going through treatment section). Please feel free to add, think we could follow in the footsteps of the other threads which seem to have been a great support for others who have been through this journey. I've also found it helpful to read some of the posts and tips on getting through chemo xxxx
