Nicola I felt exactly same way on steroids, I felt on another planet & def couldn't drive, but once you stop taking the steroids you do feel a bit more human.

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Well done Sam that's a brilliant amount. I hope to do something next year and also get my OH and his colleagues to do something as they do a mammoth bike ride each year to raise money this year they are doing it for prostate cancer so next year I said best do something for BC after all the help I have had. x

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Nicola6 - sorry you're feeling like this - it's all very scary isn't it? But it will pass and next time you'll know what to expect.  It's normal to be scared, no wonder your emotions as well as your body feels feel shaken up with all those toxins hitting your body at once. I feel scared now as well because my hair's started to shed - thought I was prepared but I feel reallt shocked.  Hang on in there Nicola.xxx

Good for you Christy-May - stick to your guns!   I was told never to allow my mx arm to be used, but one of the chemo nurses said it was OK - fortunately they got the cannula in the non-mx arm.   Sometimes there are a lot of conflicting advice/opinions in the medical circle!

Hurray Julie. The relief is immense isn't it? I looked like a  Chesire Cat the day I got mine! I had bone and CAT scan done months ago- has anyone had them done again before starting chemo?

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Hi all, I had a great start to the day, went wig shopping & found a lovely 1 so feel a bit like my ' old' self,

Then went to the Hosp for ct scan, drank gallons of water, went in they tried numerous times to get a vein to put dye in but failed, called doc who tried but failed then he said to do it my mx side arm but I have always been told not allowed cuz of lymhodema but doc said that wrong? But I said no cuz that's wat I been told so now gotta wait again, go in hav a cannula fitted try that way!!

Why do I always have problems!!!

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Hi ladies,

Well I wanted arestful day but with 3 family bdays today it was shopping and visiting. Tomorrow will be calmer with only 1 bday and a meal out so at least I won't have to cook.

Venice I did have another op and then the leaky boob. When I saw consultant last week he gave me more antibiotics- just incase.

Wondered if anyone else has this- In the evenings when I have no bra and pjs on I get pains in my boob near nipple and cancer site. Feels like I have a little man inside me stabbing me with needles- only just had this as I had been sleeping in a sports bra.

Hope all who were dunked are ok and resting now- I can't believe how quick these weeks are going.

Spikey hope now they have pulled out the PICC line  you pains should ease.

Ps: Had two more cheques arrive today for the fundraising and the total is now: £1025

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Nicola I had a terrible come down off the steroids.  I asked them to give me a different anti sickness drug emend and one that they give you via iv with chemo that lasts all cycle that way this time I didnt have any steroids to take.  No comedown this time no jittery horrid out of control feeling.

Try and get that next time it makes a difference

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Hi all, hope everyone is ok, Venice hopefully your haematoma will sort itself out and there will be no need for another op. it does sometimes take the body a few weeks to reabsorb the haematoma. I've had my picc line pulled out 5cm today so hopefully my chest pain will settle down. Xxx

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Hi Nicola6, not sure exactly what makes us feel like that but many did for a few days, up to a week. I'm on day 10 of first fec cycle and its really only the last couple of days I've felt anything like normal but now have mouth ulcers. Just rest and eat when and what you can, I'm sure you will improve soon. Some of us felt like thunderbirds puppets! Take care xxx

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

I had severe seroma which was diagnosed as hematoma.  Was feeling dizzy, sick, breathless, swelling where had mx when to see BC nurse who tried to drain nothing happened by this time I was being sick, blood pressure low, temperature low BC Nurse said was hematoma was admitted straightaway and operated on that afternoon to have it removed.  Was quite unexpected as the day before I was fine and really didnt want another operation after my mx and the scar reopened  but all was well after and couple weeks later seroma started to be reabsorded so no more problems x

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

hi  anyone had a hematoma i have seen the GP who dx this, my affected breast is quite pink and there has been lumpiness around my scar WLE  I have seen bcn who tied to aspirate but no fluid just blood and have had antibiotics x2 4 weeks later pinkness still there .  I did show sister on chemo unit before treatment she wasnt concerned am having a bit of discomfort near SNB scar i believe it can take a while to re absorb, lumpiness not as bad, bcn advised me to ask GP for more antibiotics anyone had similar

Deb if you are on the private group they should not show on your facebook. You will see them but no one else can. If you click on your name at the top and not your home page that shows you what everyone else can see. Please believe me that noo one else can see them, I promise xx

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Hi Maisies

Hope everyone ok

Good luck Christy  - yes scans are worse than chemo cos its the mental torture waiting for the results.  Like Debs I had 12 / 16 lymph nodes affected but my ct came back clear ( thank you Lord)  so try and not worry.  I found out a week or so later

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Morning maisies, well bloods done so fingers crossed ok for 2nd dunk tomorrow.  Christymay I too went through the what if waiting for the ct results which is a normal reaction I think . Mine took a week to get results back so your onc should have them next week. I had 8 out of 15 lymph nodes affected and I got the all clear no spread so fingers crossed you will get the all clear hun x x .

I've gone on the facebook link too but had to disable posts due to them feeding straight through to my facebook page and not everyone knows. Gilly do you know how to stop it doing this so I can still use our page?

Hope the girls are ok today at the bar, have a good day maisies love and hugs to all debs x x x

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Morning all,

Hope you are all doing ok today.

Rollercoster.........when I went for my wig fitting, I was shown how to put my specs on with the wig.

Been thinking about my current headache after the comment about migraines.  I used to get really bad migraines, but have not had one for 20 years,  until I had my first chemo cycle. That went after a few days.  The bad head that I have at the moment (now into 4th day), is not a migraine or pounding headache, but a bearable dull ache. I certainly do not want to start having migraines again, and hope the chemo does not trigger them to return.  I am going to mention these when I see the oncologist on Tuesday, so will let you know his comments about migraines and chemo.

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Well done on the sleep christymay, isn't it easier to face the world when you've slept well! I had my scans on 9th august and still haven't been told the results. Its easy to start thinking the worst but its all in a days work for them so they don't rush to tell you the results but I'm sure if they showed anything terrible they would be in contact! I'll be sending you positive vibes and hugs all day, let us know how you get on later. xxx

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Morning Maisies, congrats on the strawb tea fund raising Sam that's a fab total!  I saw snergy onc yesterday can't get on w him!  He makes me twitter in a very nervous way as if I'm asking stupid questions.  Anyway after waiting 45 mins for him I was only in there 5 mins, luckily he doesn't need to see me till Nov which is fine by me.  He halved my dex though as he said that was causing the heartburn so hopefully that should be better next time?  I had headaches last cycle but I have got some of Chez's laimon fresh drink and really drunk till my back teeth are floating and fluids do seem to be the key!  Bonjela on mouth ulcers helped, plus ice lollies and the free gelclair.  Good luck for all being dunked today Jac xx

Re: anyone starting chemo in August?

Morning Maisie's, to all you lovely ladies up today, hope things run as smoothly as they can.

I managed 4.5 sleep straight. Wow, I'm chuffed with that.

So apart from my ulcers, big fat cold sores & headache I feel a little bit ok.

Just gotta go face the world with my convict look hair cut & look for a wig, then the ct scan, how long do you have to wait for those results? maybe nxt wk wen I see onc before my nxt dunking? Did anybody else think the worst like they gona tell me it's spread somewhere else?

juneb, penn, whiterose and tasha good luck today.

Gilly I have sent a  request- just read some arent joining fb, I understand so looks like I iwll have 3 pages to watch now. Will be nice to put faces to names though.

Christymay I use  Aloe vera gelly on cold sores and it really dries them up quickly, unfortunately I didn't get the tingly feeling  before they come up  else I would have put  it on earlier and it may have prevented it.

Breezy sorry to hear you are not having a  good week when it should be a good week.

Julie sorry to hear your chemo didn't happen looks like you will have dual membership like me then!

Right must go as i need go finish bday presnt shopping, 3 immediate family birthdays today and another tomorrow. xx
