Re: bone denstity / nuclear bone scan

Hi Poppy, I have not been on the site for a while then suddenly saw your name. We had chemo about the same time I think. Did you have the Pink Road thread? Very sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom, that is hard enough to deal with without everyhting else.
The term "bone scan" gets bandied about so often that it's not surprising it's confusing.
As Samos says the nuclear bone scan tells us about mets or secondaries aso great it is clear. I am due to have another one soon.
The bone density one is because some people get thinner bones after BC and they need to check and offer treatment if necessary. It is a very easy test to have done so no worries there.
No idea re the Arimidex and and bleeds, ask your BCN as suggested and back it up with a chat to the Helpline, they are really very knowledgeable and kind.
Best wishes

Re: bone denstity / nuclear bone scan

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand your post.
Nuclear bone scans are used as a diagnostic tool to check for mets in the bones, and a bone density scan checks, well bone density - two very different scans to check two very different things.
My bc is not hormone driven, but I believe that some hormone treatments can affect bone density.
I suggest you ring your Bcn with any questions you have over your treatment, as your treatment is specific to you, and they will be able to answer tour questions and put your mind at reset.
