Thanks for ur help every one! I feel slightly more positive. Its the waiting that drives me insane. Its good to hear other womens stories as you feel your talking to people who really understand. I spoke to one of the nurses at the hospital and this has helped me calm down and take one day at a time. xxxx

I'm only a little way ahead of you myself, I was diagnosed on 17th Dec with invasive ductal carcinoma. I'm 41 and I'm married with 3 young children. I had the lump and my lymph nodes removed on 22 Dec. I didn't have a discernable lump, just a funny indentation on my breast as if the seam on my bra had dug in me, but it turned out there was a 35mm tumour in there. I was also sent away by my doctor 3 months before diagnosis being told it was nothing so I can understand your fear and frustration at suddenly finding that "nothing" was actually "something".

That doesn't mean it's bad though. My symptoms obviously weren't the same as yours, but my cancer was partly grade 2 and partly DCIS so apparently not wildly aggressive and luckily it hadn't spread to my lymph nodes. I'm just waiting for wounds to heal properly and start chemo in 2 or 3 weeks time.

I was diagnosed 16 December, had a lump removed, and am now on chemo, just started. I actually don't know what mine was. I never got round to asking. I'll try and remember next time I go for chemo. They probably won't know exactly until they operate, as they need to get in to find out where the tumour is exactly. Your symptoms don't necessarily mean it's bad. It's really hard not to start thinking the worst, but try and focus on each step as it comes. I found that helped me get through this first shock part. It's a total shock to the system, and your head must feel like it belongs to somebody else. I know mine did. I've only been doing this for 7 weeks I think, and I feel like a year has gone past. I can't believe it's still deep in winter! It's good that you've found this site. It's been a total lifeline for me, and I know it's the same for others. Keep talking. We'll be with you all the way if you want.

Thank you Lucy and Debs for moving me on to the right thread. I have read some of the other lady's symptoms and I've put together some questions for my consultant. I'm still in a state of shock last week my life was normal this week I don't feel anything will be right again xxx.

In addition, please call our freephone helpline on 0808 800 6000 which is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm where you can speak to one of our team who are either specialist breast care nurses or have had an experience of breast cancer themselves and are here to support you and help you through this difficult time. The helpline is closed today due to the adverse weather conditions but hopefully will be up and running tomorrow.

As Debs suggested, I have posted this in the newly diagnosed section where others at a similar stage can offer you support and information.

I 31 and I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am due for an operation this week. How ever my doctor is not to sure what kind of cancer it is as he thought it was just exzema. I was told four years ago it was a blocked duct. Over the last four years it has been a constant cycle of the breast weeping becoming like a crust on my nipple then that comes off then I bleed then the cycle starts again. As this has been going on so long the doctor did a biopsy last week which has come back as cancer but other than that he can't tell me what one? How bad is it? Has any one had the same symptoms as these? can any one tell me what it is? thank you for taking the time read this. xxx.
