Re: clear margin but. Sentinel nodes showed spread now more surgery

Hi BizzyLizzy - just wanted to say hope the surgery went OK to remove the nodes.

I had the Oncotype DX test done to check the necessity of chemo which is not normally available to those who are premenopausal with positive nodes but because I have an existing condition (Parkinsons) it was funded to ensure that the benefit would outweigh the side effects - perhaps you could discuss this test with the team - although there is also a trial running that has a similar test for node positive patients so the team may suggest this to you if you are HER2 negative.

My recurrence score on the test came back high so I had to have chemo - honestly I'm only a little way through treatment but the thought of chemo is way worse than the reality.

I think chemo might have been mentioned because they don't know yet if you are HER+ - if you are, then chemo is the usual treatment for it. If not then I am sure your oncologist and team will look at everything to decide what would be best for you so try and not to worry.

Hi BizzyLizzy. Just read your post and sending you a (((big hug))) All the people around you will support you, let them help, sometimes we have to give in and accept we need some help along the way. Don’t feel guilty just take each step as it comes. It does get easier when you know what’s going on and have a plan, what ever it is. Good luck for Thursday. Take care xxx

clear margin but. Sentinel nodes showed spread now more surgery

Had,lumpectomy and the, results came back that there was a clear margin but the cancer was detected in the sentinel nodes.

having to go back in for removal of more nodes,on Thursday and feel like I have taken a huge step backwards

was totally shocked that the surgeon mentioned Chemotherapy then Radiotherapy

i was always prepared that I would have to have Radiotherapy but until then Chemo was never mentioned

.

I have ME and a poor immune system plus history of severe depression and anxiety and a weird neurological facial pain condition and the thought of Chemo terrifies me.- it was mentioned as an insurance policy but I need to be sure that the benefits will outweigh the gains

I guess until I get the next lot,of results then I will have to see.

my HEr result is not available as yet either.

my anxiety level was so high in the appointment last Friday I can hardly remember what they were saying as totally freaked out but my partner took, some notes, for me.

i have stage 2b ductal carcinoma.

I feel so guilty as to all the stress I am causing my partner and elderly father and my sister who lost, her, husband,to,bowel, cancer last year and also to my friends.

I should be grateful as it is treatable and not stage 3 or 4 like other women on this forum but I feel so lost.
